About this file
This document contains responses to questions regarding renovation plans for a Veterans Affairs cath lab. The project involves replacing an existing 400-amp panel, two isolation panels, and an automatic transfer switch. Specifications are provided for the isolation panels and automatic transfer switch. Clarification is also given on panel schedules and feeders. The airframe system supporting the cath equipment is shown on structural drawings and will be integrated by the contractor. Final vendor drawings are still pending the equipment award. Coordination between equipment suppliers and the airframe supplier will be required during shop drawing development to provide an integrated support structure.

1. The Isolation panels (4ISOA and 4ISOB) are not shown in panel schedule, and both are listed to feed from panel 13B1EC, rather than one being fed from normal power, is this correct?
Response – The panel designation on sheet 1ES-002, DETAILS 1 and 2 are incorrect. ISO panels should be fed from Panel 13B2EC as noted on panel schedules, sheet 1ES-301. Both from emergency panel.
2. Are there any specifications for isolation panels 4ISOA and 4ISOB?
Response – Yes. Spec Section 26 20 11 - ISOLATED POWER SYSTEMS
3. New panel that is to replace existing 400amp panel 1BC13EC is not shown with detail in panel schedule, however there is an existing one shown. Is this a typo?
Response – Panel Schedule for new panel 1BC13EC is shown on sheet 1ES-301.
4. In question #2 above- is the new/replacement panel 1BC13EC identical in loads?
Response – Panel Schedule for new panel 1BC13EC is shown on sheet 1ES-301. There are some existing pieces of equipment to be reconnected and some new connections. Provide and install as noted.
5. Are there any specifications available for the 250A ATS 1-X4 shown to be replaced?
Response – Spec Section 26 36 23 - AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCHES is attached in Word and PDF format.
6. Can we get the location of where panel 1B15E is located? (shown to feed the ATS) Response – Sheet 1ES-002, DETAIL 4 - ELECTRICAL ONE-LINE DIAGRAM Panel 1B15E is incorrectly labeled. This should be Panel 1BC15E. This panel currently feeds ATS 1-X4. Verify in field.
7. Are we to change the feeder from 1B15E as we are from switchboard #2 for feeding the ATS?
Response – Sheet 1ES-002, DETAIL 4 - ELECTRICAL ONE-LINE DIAGRAM Panel 1B15E is incorrectly labeled. This should be Panel 1BC15E. Yes, replace feeder from new breaker to new ATS as noted on one-line
8. The drawings do not show a SLD airframe, but the specifications show a SLD Airframe. Which is it, as the structural drawings also show a Unistrut system, and not a SLD Airframe, as the strut is part of the SLD Airframe. To obtain SLD pricing, we will need specific info.
Response – The Airframe system is shown on sheet 1-AS-131 detail 1, Reflected Ceiling Notes, and Keyed Construction Notes, and 1-AS-501 detail 2 & 3. The intent is to combine the structural supports for the cath equipment with the Airframe for one integrated support structure. The specifics of how an SLD “Airframe” (or equal) system supports the Cath Equipment requires coordination between the Cath Equipment supplier and the “Airframe” supplier during the shop drawing phase. The attachment of the Airframe to the existing building structure shall be designed by a Licensed Structural Engineer for the contractor and included in the base bid. Shops drawings shall be provided reflecting the integrated items and shall be coordinated by the Contractor for a seamless finished product. The structural drawings represent support of Cath Equipment only but are not exclusive to what is required to support the Airframe System and Cath Lab Equipment.
9. We need a copy of the final Vendor drawings. The specifications only have the few pages, we need the electrical sheets for electrical and SLD needs the set to provide pricing on the Airframe.
Response- We are still awaiting the final award of the Cath Lab equipment, so we don’t have site specific vendor drawings to provide outside of the basis of design that was already included.
