I am preparing a bid for the flooring in the domiciliary dining area in Building 18 of the VA located in Big Spring Texas. You were named as the direct contact for any questions regarding this project. ANSWER: Daltile – Saddle Brook, Color: SD14 Farmhouse.
Question Set 4:
We were told at the site visit to send in our questions so that they could be addressed formally, as the people on site that day were unsure what the answers were. Please see below:

ANSWER: A move request will be placed to internal VA Environmental services for removing, storing, and replacing furniture. An accurate start and finish date will need to be provided at the preconstruction meeting to accommodate this need.
· I didn’t see any manufacturers listed in the standard 093013 Tiling Specification for domiciliary provided by TIL. · At the entrance to the kitchen area, there is a significant gap between the kitchen tile and dining room flooring due to the bottom component of the swinging door. It looks like there used to be some sort of mat/cover that went across the threshold to prevent tripping. Can you clarify if we are to install the new ceramic tile up to the door piece and kitchen tile with a transition piece to separate the kitchen flooring and dining flooring? (See picture below).
ANSWER: Yes. Tile will be installed up to the kitchen tile with a transition piece.
· If we did this, there is still a bit of a difference in elevation between the door component to the new flooring. Can we float the floors so that they will match the grade of the door component and eliminate the tripping hazard?
ANSWER: Yes, as long as the slope conforms to ADA standards.
· If no, what are the intentions of install at this area?
