Technical Questions – 36C25722Q0095 – PIV Card Reader Install

1. Will dual authentication be required on any of the access-controlled doors?

Ans: Dual authentication are only required for the IT closets in Building 93 and PIV readers only will be suffice for the 2 doors in Building 2.

2. Are HES 1500 ES required on all doors or just Building 93?

Ans: No, HES 1500 ES are required only for Building 93. Building 2 will require to have HES 5000 ES due to size of door frames workable areas.

3. Could HES 5000 ES be used on the doors for Building 2?

Ans: Due to size of the frames and complexity of the doors, HES 5000 ES will be used in Building 2. Hard pipes must be ran with a J-box due to the wall being concrete. A hole penetration must be drilled for the PIV readers.

4. The Door inside Rm 2B-105 cannot be used in an Access Control system due to it being able to be opened. Is the contractor responsible for changing out this door hardware assembly or the

VA?

Ans: Yes, the contractor will be responsible for changing out this doors hardware assembly.

5. It’s been recommended during the site walk to use 3 iStar SE 16 Reader Panels instead of Ultra’s in Building 93. Is an approved change? FYI, the Ultra’s will take longer to ship than the SE panels.

Ans: The VA has approve 3 iStar SE 16 Reader Panels instead of iStar Ultras due to time constraints for materials. We need these installed ASAP. Also, all wires running into the iStar must be ran into a hard pipe conduit from the ceiling/ceiling grid to the panel and no splice of wires of any kind can be done.

6. Is there floorplans available for each building that have the IDF Rms clearly marked? A fire escape floorplan would be adequate.

Ans: See drawings attached.

7. Since these buildings are historical will there be any special permitting required?

Ans: No

8. If a door frame has to be modified to fit the new electric door strikes will this be allowed due to the historical nature of the buildings?

Ans: Yes

9. Will the override locks need to be operational?

Ans: No

10. There were mentioned COVID-19 requirements for testing every 30 days during the installation phase. Please clarify?

Ans:
