CD101/
Spec 024100
Are we replacing the 49 trees that are to be removed? If we are replanting, what kind/size of trees are going back in?
1. Demolition plan CD101 states “Remove tree including stump (49) in accordance w/the specifications.”
2. Spec section 024100 part 3.1.B states, “…trees that were removed including stumps and roots, grass that has been removed or damaged during construction and similar materials shall become property of the Contractor and shall be disposed of by him daily….”
3. Planting plan CS103 shows new trees to be planted and notes the species of each tree.
4. The contract requires removed trees are not to be replanted; but rather, new trees are to be planted as indicated on CS103.
5. Tree sizes shall be 6-inch diameter.
Also note that the contractor is to preserve the existing block tree rings and reuse them for the newly installed trees. Return any excess block tree rings in reusable condition to the VA. If additional block tree rings are needed to complete the project, then match the existing tree rings.

CSD101
Are the Handicap sign posts Square Tube posts as the traffic sign are?
Handicap signposts shall be installed per details 4 and 6 on sheet CSD101.
3 Temporary Striping Paint shows to be painted, then removed. Why not use Foil back tape, that way there will be no scaring from the removal on the new asphalt?
AE takes no exception to installing temporary striping as suggested.
However, to uphold safety requirements, the temporary striping must be maintained and/or replaced by the Contractor as directed by VA-COR throughout the construction period.
4 I Didn't see wheel stops at the Handicap spaces.
Is this correct?
Yes.
5 During the 4 phases of traffic control, will the signs need to be on post or stands? There are a lot of utilities to think about when driving post.
Any of the temporary signage installation details from MUTCD Chapter 6 are acceptable.
However, the temporary signage must be maintained and/or replaced by the Contractor as directed by VA-COR throughout the construction period.
