AMENDMENT #2: BIDDING QUESTIONS & ANSWERS | 08/01/2024
1. In reviewing the final specifications and documents, I am not seeing FEE notated, or equipment specified in Division 11 (or 12). Will there be a separate solicitation for medical equipment to fill this new space? i.e. SPD equipment, medical tables, lights, camera, video/integration?
A1. Refer to equipment schedule on Sheet AI201. All medical equipment will be provided by the VA except for ceiling mounted patient lift system. As a part of Amendment #2, section 11 73 00 Ceiling Mounted Patient Lift System will be provided.
2. Will a TAB pre-read be required for this project?
A2: Yes, the area supplied by this AHU that is not part of the construction needs to be maintained.
3. PVC is not listed in the specifications for waste & vent piping. Is this acceptable to use?
A3: Yes, refer to specification section 22 13 00 2.1.c
4. There is no drawing showing demolition of waste piping below. Please provide.
A4: Notes 1 and 2 on sheet PD101 refer to removing waste piping back to main and capping.
5. For the phase 1 bathroom installation, a majority of the new domestic water piping will need to be installed in an occupied area. With this, there will need to be valving added for future work, overtime, ICRA requirements, ceiling work, clean up, etc. There will also be work required in the morgue for the waste piping.
Please advise if this is acceptable and if so, please update drawings to reflect the additional work items required.
A5: See revisions to sheets PD101 and PL101 as a part of Amendment #2.
6. Will the waste piping work in Biomed need to be completed after hours?
A6: Yes, this is addressed in “SCOPE OF WORK LEGEND” on sheet AD100.
7. Will the waste piping work in the Morgue need to be completed after hours?
A7: Yes, this is addressed in “SCOPE OF WORK LEGEND” on sheet AD100.
8. I'm inquiring about any requirements for ceiling-mounted patient lifts for the facility. In the pre-solicitation, it mentioned: "Waiting area with an approximate capacity of 29 patients and family members, 7 exam rooms, one of which will include a bariatric exam table and ceiling-mounted 1,100 lbs. capacity patient lift system." However, I couldn't find anything supporting this need in the full posted solicitation, both in the drawings and within section 11 73 00 of the spec requirements. Could you clarify if this project will require ceiling lifts? If so, where can we find the relevant information?
A8: Reflected ceiling plan and keynote 11.50B on sheet AE120 shows the ceiling mounted patient lift in room C101E. In addition, keynote 2.55 on sheet AD110 describes the required modifications to existing ceiling mounted lift in room C186.
Project NO. 589A4-23-050 | Renovate & Expand Urology Clinic
As a part of Amendment #2, section 11 73 00 Ceiling Mounted Patient Lift System will be provided.
9. Will this project require certified payroll with the prevailing wage requirements?
A9: Yes, Davis Bacon Act applies to this project.
10. Are 10 hour workings days acceptable for construction?
A10: Yes, a VA COR has to be present when there are contractors doing work on site. We currently staff from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM and run a night shift when needed.
11. Please confirm the hospital facilities staff will be responsible for removal and storage of their contents.
A11: VA equipment that is to be reused will be the responsibility of the VA to remove and store.
12. Certain shut downs of systems will be required after working hours (alarms, power, water, etc.) and will need to be coordinated with facilities. Will they be available after hours or do all shutdowns need to happen during regular business hours?
A12: VA will have staff cover any reasonable after hours work.
13. Please confirm if there is asbestos located in the project area. If so, please provide asbestos report.
A13: There have been multiple remodels of the project area and we expect the asbestos has been previously abated. The GC is to bring any questionable items to the attention of the COR for examination.
14. Please advise if the designated SSHO and Quality Control Manager role can be fulfilled by the site superintendent.
A14: Please see spec section 01 35 26 for the requirements of these roles.
15. Is project tax exempt?
A15: Yes, Tax Exception
16. Question during site visit: Has the sanitary drain for the urology phase 1 bathroom been demo’d during morgue construction?
A16: It is verified that it is still there per contract documents.
