The existing 1/32" of Lead is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

Southwest Wall (Barrier B)

Room Door (Barrier C) The existing 1/32" of Lead is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

West Wall (Barrier C) The existing 1/32" of Lead is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

North Wall (Barrier D)

Northeast Wall (Barrier E) The existing 4.5" of Concrete is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

Control Wall (Barrier A)

All walls requiring shielding must have the shielding extend from the floor to a height of at least 7. (See exception for Wall D).

Barrier Descriptions

The assumptions used in this report were supplied by the facility. If the actual CT usage is different than that provided by the facility or if there are increases to the workload or modifcations made to the barriers,, additional shielding may be required. In such cases, there should be consultation with a medical physicist. A copy of this report should be maintained by the facility for the life of this room.

Shielding is an integral part of rooms utilizing ionizing radiation and is required to protect staff, patients, and members of the public in adjacent spaces. The contents of this report should be reviewed carefully to ensure adjacent spaces are adequately protected.

Barrier penetrations, such as those for outlets, switches, light boxes, etc, should be wrapped or backed with equivalent shielding as specified for the prescribed wall. Special attention should be given to penetrations and joints as this is often a point of failure for shielded spaces.

Design & Building Requirements

Walls requiring lead will only need shielding installed on one side of the wall. For example, lead-lined drywall may be installed on one side of the studs while regular GWB may be installed on the other side.

1/32" Lead should be added to the existing 1/16" for a total barrier thickness of 3/32" Lead. Lead should extend from the floor to the concrete decking above. For the part of the wall extending from 7 feet to the concrete decking above, a total barrier thickness of 3/32" is required.

Control Door (Barrier A) The existing 1/32" of Lead is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

The existing 1/32" of Lead is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

Radiation Shielding Design July 2023

The existing 4.5" of Concrete is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

Floor (Barrier G)

Southeast Wall (Barrier F) The existing 1/16" of Lead is sufficient for this barrier. No additional shielding is required.

1/16" Lead should be added to the existing 4.5" of Concrete to protect occupied spaces above. The lead should extend from Wall D out approximately 15'8" to adjoin the pillars. Any penetrations for electical, HVAC, etc should be wrapped and backed with equivalent lead. The lead may be installed above or below the concrete decking but should be installed in such a way as to prevent gaps, voids, or penetrations in the

Wall D 1/32" Lead should be added to the existing 1/16" for a total barrier thickness of 3/32" Lead. Lead should extend from the floor to the concrete decking above.

Ceiling 1/16" Lead should be added to the existing 4.5" of Concrete to protect occupied spaces above. The lead should extend from Wall D out approximately

15'8" to adjoin the pillars. Any penetrations for electical, HVAC, etc should be wrapped and backed with equivalent lead. The lead may be installed above or below the concrete decking but should be installed in such a way as to prevent gaps, voids, or penetrations in the protective barrier.
