Guest Wi-Fi Services at the Wichita VA Medical Center. The purpose of this amendment is to provide additional information in response to questions received. Please see page 2-3 for Questions/Answers

Jessica D. Barton Contracting Officer

36C25523Q0623 – Guest Wi-Fi Services at the Wichita VAMC

• Is there fiber available to contractors to extend circuit to all buildings listed to be managed for this network? I believe there are lines that will be left behind and can be used, but not positive. There is some VA fiber used for some of the switches (primarily the outlying buildings).

• If so, what type of fiber and what connector type is available to network equipment? Multimode OM1 62.5 micron fiber with LC type connectors.

• What cable type is run to all access points currently? I believe most are CAT5, but the current standard is CAT6e on any new lines run.

• How many clients are expected to be managed for the entire network? There are 130-150 APs.

My guess would be approximately maybe 3000 at most. That would cover employees, patients, and their families if everyone was here and got on at the same time.

• Can we quote if we preferred two circuits for redundancy to upheld SLA uptime agreement? Yes

• Does the contractor need to provide Rack to mount network equipment? Yes, in some areas, there might not be a rack or space on the rack that is there.

• Are there available UPS backups to network equipment to utilize or does this need to be included in quotes? There is currently a UPS at the main modem and switch but not on every switch.

Does the VA require the vendor solution to use TAA Compliant equipment in the Air Gapped patient WIFI network? All equipment must be on the government approved list of equipment.

Does the VA Require WIFI coverage only where the APs are marked on the drawings or do additional areas require coverage? Currently yes. Where the APs are, there might be a section on 3rd floor building 1 East Side that is being renovated, I don’t know if that was on the map at the time. Will need the ability to move APs and add and subtract area as the VA builds and renovates areas.

Is there existing Fiber Paths between the buildings that the contractor may use to extend the service to the areas and buildings where service is required? If so what type of Fiber is in place? There is currently 62.5 micron OM1 multimode fiber with LC type connectors being used to supply signal to a few locations.

Are IT closets located on each floor where the contactor may install POE network switches in each of buildings that are not shown on the drawings? As presented, the drawings do not show switch closet locations in most of the buildings and floors. Currently, the guest WiFi switches we have, are NOT located in any OIT closet.

Does the Government require the service to include web content filtering, and a Landing and acceptance page, before granting access to the guest internet services? Currently we do have a landing and acceptance page. We do not have web filtering.

Will HEPA Carts/ Tents need to be utilized during the installation of Cabling and equipment? No, but there is a policy that only one ceiling tile be open something like every 12ft

What is the estimated max number of simultaneous users the service will need to support? This is needed for correct firewall sizing. There would be approximately 3000 at most. That would cover employees, patients, and their families if everyone was here and got on at the same time.

• Is this to be 2.4 and 5Ghz or 5Ghz only? 2.4GHz

• Are there any other internet service requirements outside of WiFi? No

• Are HEPA tents/tools required to be used when running cables in the patient use common areas?

No, but must meet infection controls specified by the infection control officer. (I.E., not more than 2 ceiling tiles open at a time and approx. 12’ apart

• Is there fiber available between buildings? If yes, is it available for use? Yes, there is fiber. 1 pair can be used for outlying buildings and only where completely necessary.

36C25523Q0623 – Guest Wi-Fi Services at the Wichita VAMC

• Are there any areas that cannot have signal bleed from the common area coverage? No

• What are the working hours for our installation crews should this be awarded for construction?

Standard work shifts go from 0730-1600.

• Are there escort requirements or limitations for areas within the buildings? No escort requirements but will need COR or employee to gain access to certain areas.

• What is the square footage of the buildings or at least the coverage areas? The entirety of the

RJD VA is approximately 310,000 sq ft. That is every building, including areas not going to be covered by WiFi. (This is best guess)

• Do you currently have a device count for the current Wi-Fi access points for this bid? There are 130-150 APs.
