RFQ 36C25225Q0176 – Vendor Questions with Answers

1. Question: If a supplier does not supply containers other than red, yellow, blue, and black and the wall mount cabinets are a neutral color, beige, is this acceptable? The VA owns all beige wall mounts currently; the current sharps and chemo waste containers are beige, red, and black. All (contractor owned) container’s must be red, yellow, blue, or black.

2. Can we substitute the 3-gallon containers for the stated 4-gallon containers? Yes, the current VA owned wall mounts are adaptable and can hold 3-to-8-gallon containers.

3. How many wall mounting brackets/cabinets are required in total and what type are they? The VA currently has ~230 Daniels brand adjustable sharp container wall mounts and ~ 35 stands for the chemo containers (S32’s). All mounts and stands are already installed. If more are needed in the future, we will acquire them via a modification.

4. How many stationary stands are required and for what size container? ~35 stationary stands – see image above. We already have the stands. If more are needed, we will purchase via a modification.

5. Can you please explain the following: “single and double mobile carts, and bulk transport carts needed to provide a reusable sharps container and chemotherapy waste container management program.” Currently VA staff owns and operates these carts. VA personnel, in accordance with the PWS, collects and transports all containers to a designated storage area for vendor pickup. In the event that the contractor has to collect containers they can use the VA owned mobile carts.

6. Contractor shall provide service, to include buildings on campus external to the main facility, weekly or as required by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). Are the total number of containers at these other locations contained within the totals of the solicitation. Yes.

7. Can you confirm there will be no controlled substance vials, full syringes etc., i.e., fentanyl disposed of within the sharp’s containers. Yes, there will be no controlled substance vials, full syringes etc., i.e., fentanyl disposed of within the sharp’s containers.

8. Our process would be to shred the sharps to ensure they are unrecognizable and then autoclave prior to sending to landfill for disposal. Is this acceptable? Yes, this is acceptable.

9. Under Clins 1004 and 1005 and years after, are there only 5 wall mounts that are required to be installed for the entire contract and are these installs going to be performed every year? Yes, it is estimated that 5 new wall mounts will be purchased and require installation annually – based on previous years’ purchases and installations.
