About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for the replacement of two power distribution units at a Veterans Affairs medical center. The solicitation requests the contractor provide all labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to replace the two PDUs located in Building 111 on the campus. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 12 is the contracting agency. The amendment provides answers to questions submitted by interested offerors regarding load breakers, dual feeds allowing replacement of one unit at a time, and whether temporary power or generators would be required. Reuse of existing conduit and wiring is permitted where feasible for the new equipment. The solicitation close remains May 20, 2021 at 9:00 AM local time.

1. Please provide an electrical single line diagram / electrical riser for this system, showing the utility source input and UPS/PDU connected loads Line diagram is not available. Please see Attachment – PDU Block Diagram.

2. Please provide quantity and sizes for the output load breakers in the PDU sections A/C Input breaker 225a/208v – Sub-feed output breaker 225a/208v – Q1 UPS Input 600a/208v Q2 Maintenance bypass breaker 600a/208v Q3 UPS Output breaker 600a/208v. In PDU 2 there are (3) single pole 20a breakers and (6) 3 pole 20a breakers. PDU 1 has no 20a single or 3 pole breakers in the back just PDU 2. Pictures attached that shows (5) breakers that are input/output in each PDU listed in beginning of this answer.

3. Are all loads dual fed, which would allow us to replace (1) UPS/PDU at a time without a long term outage to downstream loads?

Yes, there is a transfer switch in the 3rd floor IRM room that will allow loads from both PDU’s be transferred from one to another so that one can be down at a time for maintenance/replacement.

4. Will any temporary power feeds or temporary generators be required to be provided by the contractor during this work?

No, there should be no temporary feeds or generators needed for replacement of PDU’s.

5. Are we re-using existing conduit and wiring, where feasible, with the new equipment?

Yes, we will allow re-use of any existing conduit or feeds and wiring where possible.
