Solicitation # 36C25219B0032 556-17-014 Oncology Renovation USP 800 Requirement Government Responses to Bidder Inquiries
| 1Q | I did not find the working hours for the construction in the solicitation. Please provide. |
| 1A | Normal working hours are 7:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday, non-Holidays. |
2Q Currently, below specification calls for fluid-applied, vapor permeable membrane air barrier with regard to above project.
We would like to request that our AIR-SHIELD LMP please be reviewed as a permeable sheet material here. Please see the attached data sheet to assist with review, if you can please let me know if it’s acceptable it would be greatly appreciated. (see attachment 1) 2A This data sheet appears to meet the specification 07 27 26 ‘Fluid-Applied Membrane Air Barriers, Vapor Permeable’ requirements. Please confirm that it is fully compliant with adjacent materials and all other requirements are met per section 1.4 ‘Submittals’ before submitting.
| 3Q | Is there any access to transport the new AHU to the penthouse or does it need to be crane lifted? |
| 3A | This will need to be crane lifted. |
| 4Q | Will the sprinkler work be performed on regular working hours? |
| 4A | Yes. |
| 5Q | Will Autocad DWG drawings be furnished to the successful contractor? |
| 5A | Yes. |
| 6Q | Will as-built drawings of the existing sprinkler system be available to the successful contractor? |
| 6A | Yes. |
| 7 Q | The drawings indicate on page R-1 that the temp. partition are to be constructed by steel studs and drywall, or a Starc IC Barrier system. Is Edgeguard an approved equal? |
| 7A | Only the partitions outside of the construction site that do not need to extend to the floor deck above are to be Starc systems or equal. Any partitions not in the main corridor and not within view of the general public do not need to be Starc (or Edgeguard). Edgeguard is an acceptable substitute for Starc as long as it meets all the Infection Control requirements (Class IV), that specific partition is not required to extend to the floor deck above, and proper measures will still be taken to reduce the construction noise in this space for any demolition below the grid ceiling - such as the wall demo to new doorway construction into 3A-166 bathroom. If ceiling tiles need to be removed for this work or sprinkler system capped in this area, then a drywall/steel stud set-up is required between this work and the Edgeguard paneling. Whether or not the drywall/steel stud set-up is used in the corridor, the Edgeguard (or Starc) panels must be used in the main corridors to prevent dust/debris from the drywall partitions and any construction dust/debris getting tracked into the corridor. Please be sure to consider the high traffic, corridor width, and construction noise when planning the temporary partition work layout. |
| 8Q | Pages R-1 thru R-4 on the blueprint in the legend box show a “CONSTRUCTION OFFICE/LAY DOWN AREA”, can you clarify that location? |
| 8A | A room was previously designated for this purpose, but that room is no longer available. An alternate room will be coordinated and confirmed by the pre-construction conference. |
| 9Q | On the walk-through we could not access the 2nd floor Pre-Surgery room where the plumbing drain tie work will be done. Will photos be uploaded to FBO? |
| 9A | Yes, photos have been taken of this wall to show ceiling, sink location, etc. |
| 10Q | Will there be any more manufacturer information forthcoming about the finishes to match in Restroom 3A-166? Drawings state to match manufacturer, color, etc. |
| 10A | We prefer ‘Benjamin Moore’ as the paint manufacturer. I am unsure of the name of the color in this room. This will need to be verified by the awarded contractor. Please attempt to cut out and reuse the existing wall tile from the wall to be opened if necessary, to use on the wall to be built. The exact manufacturer is not necessary for the wall tile. Please just try to match the color as closely as possible if additional tile is needed. |
| 11Q | Please confirm door finish. Spec indicates Transparent finish but door schedule lists "finish to match existing." Pictures of door tags could help as well. |
| 11A | Interior doors need to be wood doors of the same type as currently installed. The manufacturer is not important as long as it meets the specification. The existing interior doors have a transparent coating for a glossy look. |
| 12Q | In areas that do not have Off HOUR restrictions, will covered debris carts be restricted to certain hours for removing debris down patient corridors? |
| 12A | No, debris carts must be covered at all times when transporting through patient care areas. |
13Q Reference dwg. #ED131, detail 2, sheet note #5:
Can the VA provide a picture of the existing electrical conduit rack to be rerouted? Is there any indication as to what systems these conduits serve? If these existing conduits serve life safety systems, when can the rework be performed? Will this rework all be required to be performed after normal business hours? Should we figure on working Friday night through the weekend until completion?
13A Yes, photos will be provided.
14Q Reference dwg. #E-131, sheet notes #4 and #5:
Can the new PACS system conduits routed in the 3rd floor corridor ceiling be installed during normal working hours? Will infection control tents be required to access the ceiling panels in this area?
14A No, this must be done off-hours. Yes, this must be under infection control.
15Q Reference dwg. #E-131, sheet note #5:
Can the VA provide a picture of Telecom Room #3B123? This room was unavailable to view during the project walk thru.
15A Yes.
16Q Cabinet spec - Currently the only listed manufacturer is Southwest Solutions Group per Drawing A-200. Can other Manufacturers be allowed given approved credentials.
16A Yes.
| 17Q | The Cabinet spec is calling out type 302B stainless steel. This type of stainless steel is mostly used in stainless steel pipes, furniture is usually in 304 or 316. Can type 304 stainless steel be used instead? |
| 17A | I’m not sure why it is specific to type 302B, but it appears 302B is stronger than 304 and more commonly used in hospital applications. Just in case there aren’t composition restrictions or any other reasons we’re unaware of, please plan to use type 302B. |
| 18Q | Is there a specific manufacturer and/or size of monitors required to view the camera? |
| 18A | No specific monitor manufacturer. However, we will need the monitors to be high resolution, digital, and from a well-known manufacturer with a warranty. The monitor should support more than one type of input. It is preferred that one cable is routed to the two rooms, then a splitter mounted behind the monitor in one of the rooms. |
