RFI Questions and Answers
1. In order to have parking lot ready for traffic after a weekend shutdown, we will need to do the sealcoating on Saturday, and come back the next day to do the first coat of striping. The 2nd coat of striping would be applied the following weekend.
Spec section 32 17 23-4, 3.1 A 1. States "allow new pavement surfaces to cure for period of minimum 14 days before application of marking materials."
Are we to wait 14 days, or should we apply the striping the day after sealcoating? Please confirm.
ANSWER: Wait 14 days to apply the second striping coat. The first striping coat must be applied the next day. The parking lot must be striped and ready for parking by Monday.
