About this file

This document is an RFI (Request for Information) response related to the federal contract opportunity to renovate Building 16 at the Marion VA Medical Center. The solicitation, Solicitation Number 36C25024B0052, is being issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10. The purpose of the renovation is to house the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion Campus, Director, Executive Leadership Team, and other major administrative and operational departments. The project will be phased to allow circulation between the connected Buildings 15 and 17, as Building 16 will not be occupied during the renovation. The RFI response likely provides information to the government regarding the respondent's capabilities, experience, and potential approach to completing the renovation work.

AD902

AD902 keynote 1 mentions the demolition of existing ceiling tile and grid “including secondary ceiling in their entirety”. Numerous pictures of existing ceilings on pages AD901 and AD902 show the secondary acoustical ceiling grid. However, the underside of the existing floor structure at every level appears to have gypsum or plaster ceiling. Please confirm that keynote 2 on AD901-AD903 does not imply to demolish existing gypsum/plaster finish at the underside of floor structure, but instead is limited to the demolition of secondary acoustical ceiling tile and grid only.

- ALL EXISTING ACT, PLASTER AND SECONDARY CEILINGS SHALL BE REMOVED IN THEIR ENTIREY UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

- SEE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REPORT AS PROVIDED BY THE VA.

- REFER TO ALL "GI" AND "AD" SHEETS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

AD902

During our jobwalk, we identified that the existing gypsum/plastered ceiling below floor structures has numerous damaged/unrepaired areas. This condition varies from floor to floor, but it appears that the ceiling in the basement had sheathing missing, with bare rusted metal framing only remaining. Plus, numerous areas exhibited signs of past water intrusion/damage. Please quantify the extent of repair of existing subfloor finishes, specify an allowance for all GCs to include, or confirm to exclude repairs of existing gypsum/plaster finish at the underside of floor structures.

IN COMPLIANCE WITH GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES #1, WORK SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED SUCH THAT FINISHED CAN BE INSTALLED AS INDICATED. IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT WATER INTRUSION DOES NOT PERMIT WORK TO BE DONE IS A PROPER MANNER TO ACCEPT NEW FINISHES, CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDICATELY CONTACT VA COR TO DETERMINE ACCEPTABLE COURSE OF ACTION.

ALLOWANCES ARE NOT PART OF THE PROJECT. CONTRACTOR IS TO BID WORST CASE, MEANS & METHODS SENARIOS.
