About this file
This document is a sole source justification for the procurement of Lenel control panels and HID card readers by the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The VA Medical Center in Fort Wayne requires the installation of card readers, control panels, and power panels from Lenel and HID in order to maintain compatibility with their existing security infrastructure. According to the justification, Lenel equipment is the only device that can interact with the VA's current security systems and read PIV cards. While three security companies were initially identified as capable of providing card reader systems, only one would be able to interface with the VA's existing security infrastructure. The related pre-solicitation opportunity is for the procurement of add-on card readers and has a planned award date of 2023.
