ADDITIONAL RFI QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Per the Statement of Work, Scope Section, the Contractor will provide recommendations for the components to be replaced or refurbished: Controller, Power Unit, Jack, Hoist Way, Door Equipment, Car Fixtures, Hall Fixtures, Cab-Interior Upgrades, and Recommended Add-Ons. However, per the Statement of Work, General Information Section, Quality Assurance sub-Section, there is a reference to the Electric Traction Elevator Modernization 142110 Master Specification. For example, under the Scope Section, I would reuse the existing Geared Traction Machines since they were replaced about 6 years ago; however, under the Master Specification, I am required to install a new geared/gearless traction machine. Do you know if there is any project-specific specification for the required work on this project and/or which provision will take precedence?

ANSWER:

Per Scope Paragraphs A and B contractor is to provide recommendations for replacement //or// refurbishment. This takes precedence over specification 2.15 TRACTION HOIST MACHINE recommending new.

A. Component Recommendations

1. The Contractor will provide recommendations for the components to be replaced or refurbished: Controller, Power Unit, Jack, Hoist Way, Door Equipment, Car Fixtures, Hall Fixtures, Cab-Interior Upgrades, and Recommended Add-Ons.

B. Refurbishment of Retained Equipment

1. Where recommendations call for components to be retained and refurbished, retained components should be examined, and if required, cleaned, lubricated, adjusted, and any worn or defective parts replaced as part of the modernization scope of work.

2. Speaking with our Elevator contractor, they are looking at 10-14 weeks POP per elevator. We would need a total duration POP of 300 calendar days to submit a bid on this project.

ANSWER:

Please provide your bid and period of performance based on the contractor’s estimate.
