RFI Questions and Answers Q. During the Second Site Visit It was discussed that the three Desks will not be able to be blocked in E747a. The window will not be able to be removed if ICRA barriers are not able to be installed. Please advise how the VA would like this work addressed.

A. Work to remove window between TAVR control room and EP lab should be minimal. Contractor should coordinate with VA for fire rated plastic sheeting for minimal interruption to desks in E747a. Work should be completed after hours on nights/weekends. Contractor could leave desks/equipment while providing proper dust protection and paint wall around existing conditions. Contractor to provide deductive alternate to remove the scope of work demolishing the window and infilling the wall and provide and install an opaque film to the existing window.

Q. During the Second Site Visit It was discussed that during GE's de-install in EP lab e741 that ICRA barriers would be needed but were not provided under GE and are not shown in the plans to be provided by the GC under this contract. Will these ICRA barriers need to be provided by the GC under this contract? If so could more information be provided.

A. General Contractor shall provide ICRA barriers for GE de-install. Prior to construction, GC,VA COR, and end user will need to have a coordination meeting to create a workable ICRA plan for all parties involved.

Q. During the Second Site Visit it was discussed that the GC would need to follow additional ICRA requirements for working in the interstitial space. Could an ICRA plan be provided so all GC's are bidding the same requirements.

A. After award of contract, GC will need to have a coordination meeting with GC, VA COR, and end user to create a workable IRCA plan for all parties involved.

Q. Will we be able to bill for delivered Material that is stored on site?

A. Yes, if GC provides own storage. VA will not provide.

Q. For the Class IV ICRA rating is the GC required to include the cost of the Gowns, shoe covers and head covers? This question was not answered in the previous round of RFIs.

A. Yes, GC to provide.

Q. Could a Life Safety Plan be provided to show which walls extend to the deck? This will affect how our ICRA barriers are built and if the existing walls will need to be extended.

A. If no plan is received, contractor to assume no walls go to deck and shall verify in field.

Q. RFI response VA will not provide a Structural Engineer of record(GE to respond if they are able to provide of if this is the GC's responsibility) Could a determination on who is providing the Structural Engineer of Record be provided?

A. To be completed by GE.

Q. An ICRA plan was not part of the bid documents. Two of the RFI responses state that the plan will be provided. At the Second Site visit John and Jen from Infection Control were present and discussing what ICRA requirements were needed. They said they needed additional time to review and would get something over to Dan Oda (COR). Could this information be provided to all bidders.

A. Due to the sensitive operational needs for the TAVR room and its Control Room there was no ICRA plan provided so that the ICRA plan can be developed between the chosen GC, VA COR, and End Users. The contractor will have a better understanding of how long it will take to complete construction in a way to both give the users what they need while still moving forward with construction. VA COR to provide a list of additional ICRA requirements.

Q. Could the GE response be provided for the following? The RFI responses just say GE to respond. 2. Sheet A1-General Notes 03/20 Customer Site readiness – It is the contractors responsibility to contract a vibration consultant/engineer to implement site design modifications to meet the GE vibration specification. Refer to the system pre-installation manual for the vibration specification.

A. To be completed by GE.

Q. During the second visit it was discussed that moving the double doors to the electrical closet C743A may not need to be moved to due to the ICRA requirements and challenges for working in the space and keeping access open. Could additional information be provided on if this work is to be omitted from the project?

A. The work related to the electrical closet C743A is to remain in the project.

Q. There is no spec for duct insulation. Please provide a spec, and which ducts is to be insulated.

A. Supply and Return Ducts shall be insulated per VA Spec 23 07 11,see attachment.

Q. There is no spec for hot water heating piping, or insulation. Please provide a specs for both.

A. Hot water heating pipes and refrigeration pipes shall be insulated per VA Spec 23 07 11,see attachment. For TU-19-20, HHWS and HHWR pipes shall be size 3/4". For TU-19-19N, HHWS and HHWR pipes shall be size 1/2" installed according to detail (3) on sheet M-607.

Q. There is no condensate shown on M108 for the AC unit. Please provide pipe routing and spec.

A. Condensate pipe shall be rigid copper pipe type L or M, size 7/8" O.D.(sweat type)and a P-trap with minimum 2" trap height(see attached & detail#6 on sheet M-607); pitched down toward drain. Drain line shall be full size of the connection. Dielectric fitting shall be used when two dissimilar metals are to be connected .Contractor shall field verify to locate/extend pipe routing to the nearest existing/possible drain and install the Unit according to the manufacturer's manual and drawings provided with the unit.

Q. Our previously submitted question regarding med gas outlet re-certification was directed to any outlets upstream of the cut/cap and not the outlets to remain as part of the renovation. This would likely be a huge task but please clarify.

A. NFPA 99 (2021) requirements shall be met; See plumbing general notes 22 and 24: sheet MG-107.

Q. Just to confirm, Cardiology will be purchasing and installing the lights and booms?

A. VA will provide all skytron lights, booms and installation. The prep work is the responsibility of the contractor.
