FBO Posting Questions & Answers

1. Can the government clarify the total number of fire extinguishers to be inspected? Current numbers indicated anticipated hydrostatic tests and 6 recharges, but do not make clear the total number of units to be inspected.

Answer: The SOW Section (D) note was added to reflect the total of all fire extinguishers (see updated SOW)

2. Given that each unit must be inspected to determine the applicability of testing and recharge

CLINs, would the government consider modifying its price tables to include an inspection CLIN?

Answer: A separate CLIN (22) was added to the base and all options years for all fire extinguishers requiring annual inspection only. (See updated price/costs schedule)

Note: Any costs for inspection of fire extinguishers requiring hydrostatic testing or 6yr maintenance/recharge should be included in the pricing of that CLIN.

3. In many cases it may be necessary to condemn a unit due to corrosion. Would the government consider adding a CLIN to support replacement of fire extinguishers in each size category?

Answer: The government will be responsible for replacing condemned fire extinguishers. (See updated SOW Section “D”)

4. In some cases, particularly 5Lb. ABC and 2.5 Lb. ABC it is more costly to conduct hydrostatic testing than to simply replace the unit. Would the government allow for replacement of these units rather than testing?

Answer: The governments requires the costs of hydrostatic be provided as requested under the

CLIN structure. No replacement CLIN will be added.

5. When units are removed from service to conduct hydrostatic testing they will be replaced with a loaner. Is it the government’s intention that the loaner remain in place until the next scheduled inspection period, or that the contractor make a second trip to return all tested units immediately upon completion of testing?

Answer: The government requires the return of the original fire extinguisher with no additional

CLIN to be added.
