About this file

This document is an Amendment to a Solicitation/Modification of Contract for a MedGas system renovation project at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facility. The amendment includes a detailed Questions and Answers section addressing project-specific requirements. Key project details include work to be performed in the Emergency Department and on the First and Third Floors, with work hours set for Monday – Friday, 7am – 5pm, with potential evening and weekend work. The project involves relocating and installing new zone control boxes, demolishing and capping unused medical gas ports, and following specific Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) levels (Level III for First Floor, Level II for Third Floor). The VA will provide an asbestos survey and current MedGas system drawings to support the renovation work. The contractor must implement a containment wall and proper signage during construction, with all work to be completed within the specified period of performance.

Questions and Answers

1. Installation Schedule requirements ?

All work should be completed during the period of performance.

2. Expected work hours and any limitations due to the facility being fully operational?

The Emergency Department is open 24/7 The work hours will be Monday – Friday 7am

– 5pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

3. Any specific logistical constraints, access coordination, or shutdown procedures the contractor must plan for?

None other pre-construction risk assessment and infection control risk assessment. The understanding is a containment wall will be built to isolate the work being conducted and proper signage will be displayed.

4. Question regarding the layout: Instead of installing individual valves for the ED outside each room, would it be possible to relocate the existing zone valves to a more centralized or accessible location?

The plan is to discontinue the existing box and install a new box inside of the emergency department on the wall near room CC136.

5. Also, since the ports in the waiting room and offices for A301 through A306 (excluding A304) are not being used, can we confirm whether they can be demoed as part of the revised plan?

The plan is to demo them from the wall location and cap them inside of the wall.

6. What ICRA Level will be required on the First Floor? Third Floor?

First Floor Level III. Third Floor Level II.

7. Is a current asbestos survey available for the areas in which wall cuts will be required?

Yes, survey is available.

8. Can VA provide current drawings of the MedGas system as currently installed?

Yes, it will be provided.

9. Can VA provide clarification on the SoW for the following areas:

1. First Floor - It is not currently industry standard to place a Zone Control Box in line with another Zone Control Box. Is the intention to run new piping to each ED Room from the main riser with its own Zone Control Box and abandon the box in the hallway?

The plan is to discontinue the existing box and install a new box inside of the emergency department on the wall near room CC136.

2. Third Floor - The outlets currently located in the Third-Floor rooms are obsolete.

Is it the VA's intention to relocate those outlets (with current connections) to the hallway or cap and abandon them in place?

10. Being able to just cap the lines in wall for those ports on the 3rd floor that are no longer in service?

File details come from the government source that posted it. Updated .
