About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a VA surgical instrument repair and preventive maintenance contract. The solicitation (36C24725Q0581) is a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside for the Atlanta VA Hospital, covering instrument repairs, case cart repairs, and sterilizer chamber cleanings at two VA locations (Main Atlanta VA Hospital and Cobb VA North Clinic). The incumbent vendor was 1st American Medical Distributors, Inc., who previously held contract #36C24720C0174 with a total award value of $1,093,683.00.
Key operational details include two days of on-site repairs per week at the main Atlanta VA Hospital, one day per month at Cobb VA North Clinic, and service for 35 case carts from various manufacturers. The contractor must provide a fully equipped mobile repair unit, replace broken instruments, and use the Censitrac tracking system. The VA prefers a flat monthly rate that includes all costs, with service days typically on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Wednesdays. The contract will involve servicing all instruments in surgical trays, with repairs performed both on-site and off-site, subject to supervisor approval. A post-award kickoff meeting and site walkthrough are planned to establish expectations.
