About this file
This is a Justification for Single Source Awards document for a procurement above the micro-purchase threshold but below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold ($250K) from the Department of Veterans Affairs VISN 07, Atlanta VA Medical Center.
The document justifies a sole source purchase of a bariatric mattress invoice payment to Fairburn Medical Products for a rental mattress that was inadvertently discarded in January 2022 along with a bed after a veteran passed away. The mattress had been rented beginning in 2021 and was stored in the VA warehouse. The justification indicates that market research was not conducted due to acknowledgment of responsibility, and the payment is required to cover both rental fees and the cost of the discarded mattress. The acquisition is identified under plan action ID 36C247-25-AP-1337 and is being processed in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b).
