The solicitation (36C24625Q0606) seeks commercial products for replacing doors in SCI Building-137, with quotes due by June 16th, 2025 at 4:30pm Eastern Time. The project requires specific door specifications including sliding doors with emergency breakout capability, matching existing door handing, 10" bottom rail options, and manual activation via pushplate. Answers to Questions

1. Can you please let me know if there is any specific brand/ model for the automated sliding doors.

There is no specific brand/model for this acquisition.

2. Can you confirm whether this project includes any post-construction cleaning beyond removal of trash and debris from the work site?

Yes. Please be professional, dispose of the old doors, and clean up after yourselves after the installation of the purchased supplies. Thank you.

3. Regarding logistics, and this is not related employee parking on campus for the day, but only regarding loading and unloading of new job materials and removal of job waste materials. Please advise if there is a designated loading zone where materials can be transferred between vehicles and carts (drywall style carts are one example of something appropriate for the size and scale of this job), and if there is flat passage between the two locations that is suitable for moving loaded carts. Please advise estimated footage between the designated loading area and the work site, if possible.

Is there a shipping or unloading dock for the supply of equipment?

Yes, there is a loading and unloading area. There is a dumpster for job material disposal. The footage between the designated loading area and the work site is approximately 500 to 1000 feet depending on the individual bathroom.

4. Regarding door handing, please confirm that the desired handing of the new equipment should match the existing equipment.

Yes, the door handing should match existing door handing.

5. Regarding panel layout, please confirm that you are looking for either SX-O or O-SX (depending on the door handing) where SX is a panel that will slide and swing (emergency breakout only) and an O panel is fixed (does not slide or swing).

Should be both, one panel slides and one panel is fixed.

6. Regarding emergency breakout capability, please confirm that these packages all require the emergency breakout function for the active leaves.

Yes, they are required.

7. Regarding bottom rail size, the modern ADA guidance suggests that a 10" barrier free lower door section is appropriate for wheelchair applications. Please advise if the bottom rail size MUST be 4", or if we can bid a 10" bottom rail. Not every door manufacturer offers a 4" bottom rail option, but MOST offer a 10" option.

Yes, a 10” option is acceptable.

8. Regarding the lower guide system, not every manufacturer offers a "roller guide" to be used in conjunction with the guide track (G-channel). Please advise if alternate lower guide systems that utilize slide blocks, pin guides, or other non-roller options would be acceptable.

No, there is no bottom track on the active panel. Only on the non-active panel.

9. Regarding door leaf horizontal muntin bars, the existing equipment had one muntin on each panel (active leaf and sidelite). Please advise if this configuration is to be matched, OR if the muntin is only desired on the active leaf (leaving the sidelite with a full lite filler panel).

Please match to your best ability for what already there.

10. Regarding the 1/4" glazing substitute filler panels, these are typically manufactured using a lamination process that bond 3 layers into a 1/4" thick unit that is installed in standard 1/4" glazing pockets. Please confirm that the visible faces shall be class 1 clear anodized with the pebble pattern. Please advise on the material composition of the core material (typically either hardwood or some sort of high density poly).

Please match existing material if available.

11. Regarding the "security switch", please describe the function of this switch and please advise on if it is an output to another building system OR an input from another system.

There are no “security switches.”

12. Regarding the mode selector 5-position knob, please advise if this is to be the only user / staff interface to change the mode of operation and if a "knob" is required.

The staff will be using. If switches are present now, go back with same if possible.

13. Regarding primary mode of activation for ingress and egress, please confirm that these units are NOT to be sensor activated, but require a "knowing act" (depressing the pushplate) to cause the door to open from the fully closed position. Once open, the sensors typically hold the door open or re-open until the sliding area is clear, serving as secondary reactivation to prevent impact with users.

Yes, that is correct.

14. Would the place be vacant during the work week?

Yes, as needed. For each room, the patient would be moved until work is completed.

15. Is the work required to be done during normal business hours as it would be noisy work?

Yes, Correct.
