About this file
This document contains as-built drawings and mechanical plans for renovations to Building 6 at the Salisbury VAMC. The project includes demolishing existing finishes and doors, reconfiguring ductwork and diffusers, and converting the HVAC system from constant volume to variable air volume. A new inline exhaust fan and ductwork will be installed to serve new restrooms. The mechanical plans show demolition of existing ductwork and equipment, locations for new VVT boxes and a bypass damper to control two variable zones, and notes specifying control requirements including BACNET compatibility. Hernandez Consulting prepared the as-built drawings dated March 25, 2018.
The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation for structural roof repairs to Building 6 at the Salisbury VAMC. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration VISN 6 is the agency. An amendment updated the mandatory site visit date and time from November 10, 2020 to November 13, 2020 at 9:30 AM EST.

FIELD VERIFY LOCATION OF DUCT. THIS DUCT
MAY RUN IN A SPACE THAT WILL BE USED FOR
SUPPORT OF NEW MOVEABLE WALL. PROVIDE
AN ADDITIVE ALTERNATE PRICE (ADD ALT 1) FOR
RELOCATING THIS DUCTWORK TO THE EAST 6'.

DESIGN CONCEPT
FOR AREA TO THE PLAN NORTH CURRENTLY USED AS
OFFICES, RECONFIGURE DUCTWORK AND DIFFUSERS
AS SHOWN. SOME WORK MAY NEED TO BE DONE TO
ALIGN THE DIFFUSERS WITH A CHANGE IN THE
CEILING GRID LOCATION.
FOR AREA TO THE PLAN SOUTH THAT IS SERVED
CURRENTLY BY A CONSTANT VOLUME, VARIABLE
TEMPERATURE CARRIER AHU LOCATED IN THE
BASEMENT, THE INTENT IS TO CHANGE THE CONTROL
OF THIS AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FROM CONSTANT
VOLUME TO A VARIABLE-AIR-VOLUME AND VARIABLE-
AIR-TEMPERATURE SYSTEM (VVT). THERE WILL BE
TWO VARIABLE ZONES, WITH VVT BOXES AS SHOWN
ON THE SKETCH. THE AREAS TO BE USED AS
CONFERENCE SPACES SHALL REMAIN CONSTANT
VOLUME AND SHALL HAVE THE PRIMARY THERMOSTAT
FOR THE AHU LOCATED IN THEM.
A COMPREHENSIVE VVT CONTROLLER SYSTEM SHALL
BE PROVIDED. THIS SHALL INCLUDE TWO ZONE
CONTROLLERS WITH THERMOSTATS, A BYPASS
DAMPER CONTROLLER, AN OPEN CONTROLLER FOR
THE AHU, AND SPACE SENSORS AS NECESSARY. ALL
PROGRAMMING SHALL BE SIMILAR TO THR CARRIER i- Vu SYSTEM, AND SHALL BE BACNET COMPATIBLE TO
BE MONITORED AND HAVE SETPOINTS CHANGED
USING THE EXISTING CONTROLS FRONT END AT THE
SITE.
THE CONTRACTOR IS URGED TO PROVIDE INPUT FOR
THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THIS
PROJECT, AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FIELD VERIFYING
ALL CONDITIONS PRIOR TO BID.
THE RETURN DUCT SHALL BE REMOVED TO THE
POINTS SHOWN ON THE DRAWING TO CONVERT THE
RETURN SYSTEM TO A PLENUM RETURN.
A NEW INLINE EXHAUST FAN SHALL BE PROVIDED TO
SERVE THE NEW RESTROOMS, WITH ITS DISCHARGE
TERMINATING THROUGH THE ROOF ABOVE THE
SPACE.

GENERAL NOTES
THIS IS A SKETCH THAT IS DIAGRAMMATIC IN NATURE
ONLY. IT IS NOT INTENDED TO SHOW ALL PIECES AND
PARTS NECESSARY FOR A COMPLETE SYSTEM.
BIDDING CONTRACTORS SHALL BE REQUIRED TO
PROVIDE A FULLY WORKING SYSTEM IN COMPLIANCE
WITH VA DESIGN STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
IF AN AIR DEVICE IS NOT SHOWN AS RELOCATED, AND
INDICATED WITH A RED AREA FROM ANNOLD
LOCATION TO A NEW LOCATION, IT IS ASSUMED TO BE
NEW.
ALL NEW RETURNS ARE PERFORATED FACE RETURNS
WITH OPEN BACKING, SIMILAR TO TITUS PAR OR
EQUAL.
DUCT SIZES SHOWN ARE FOR ROUND DUCT. PROVIDE
RECTANGULAR DUCT OF EQUAL FREE AREA AND
FRICTION AS NEEDED TO ACCOMMODATE STRUCTURE
OR OTHER TRADES.
