STATEMENT OF WORK
SCOPE OF WORK and DELIVERABLES: The Contractor shall provide all labor, personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision and other items and services necessary to repair of the LenSx ophthalmology laser system, serial number 1013A546, at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. The Contractor shall also provide the required replacement parts to return the unit to normal operating conditions. Biomedical Engineering will be the manager and administrator of the one-time service.
This is a one-time emergency service to repair medical equipment that is not available for patient care. The LenSx ophthalmology laser system, serial number 1013A546, had a service ticket entered and assessed by the manufacturer with temperature-induced damage as the cause of the engine issue.

The facility has been unable to provide this laser same-day procedure to Veterans due to the damage and subsequent failed routine maintenance.
Biomedical Engineering has worked with Facilities Management to address the room temperature fluctuations and has placed a temperature monitoring system with alarm configuration to be notified when the temperature exceeds the manufacturer’s recommended operating and storage temperatures.
