Responses to Questions Received and Clarifications
1. QUESTION: Who will remove the strip light around the bulkhead above the nurse’s station?
VA RESPONSE: It is the contractor’s responsibility to remove and reinstall the lights in the bulkhead at the nurse’s station.
2. QUESTION: Provide a detail on how the membrane around the shower drain is currently installed and how it is wished for it to be reinstalled with the epoxy work?

3. QUESTION: Please provide detail of existing wall construction in the showers.

VA RESPONSE: Material is to be hauled off site daily per the scope of work.
5. QUESTION: Will drawings be provided for the project with paint and tile colors etc?
VA RESPONSE: Paint colors are as follows:
Sherwin Williams – SW9063 – Porch Ceiling for bulkheads, wall protection, crash rails, hand rails and corner guards
Sherwin Williams – SW7757 -High reflective White for walls All door and window frames are to match exiting color.
Please see attachments labels “Grout Selection” and “Tile Selection” for tile and grout colors.
6. QUESTION: Is the terrazzo shower only to be coated with a slip resistant material or is the terrazzo to be removed and replaced with a slip resistant material. It appears to be only a coating.
VA RESPONSE: All 18 restrooms will require the epoxy coating to be demolished in the shower areas only. Any corrective measures necessary to repair cracks or deficiencies in the existing concrete will be performed prior to installing the new non-slip epoxy flooring in the shower areas.
7. QUESTION: Page 5, paragraph 17 references a mold remediation website… http://www.epa.gov/mold/mold_remediation.html#Key Steps. The screen shot below shows the result of the search for the site. Is there another site to reference?
VA RESPONSE: Printable Version of Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings | US EPA
8. QUESTION: What is the size of the door openings of the Patient Restroom/Showers? I would like to know what the largest door is.
VA RESPONSE: 3’ x 7’
9. QUESTION: The bulkhead in the Nurses Station is to be painted. There are lights in the bulkhead. Who is responsible to take out and reinstall the lights, or do you want the lights left in place and just painted around?
VA RESPONSE: It is the contractor’s responsibility to remove and re-install the lights in the bulkhead at the nurse’s station.
10. QUESTION: Level 4 Infection Control is required for the shower repairs in the patient rooms. Can we use a window in the patient room and install plywood to vent the negative air machines?
VA RESPONSE: You may vent the negative air machine out into the patient room.
11. QUESTION: Will the metal studs and track need to be replaced for the installation of the MR Board? We’re assuming that the existing studs and track is probably rusted.
VA RESPONSE: Do not include replacing any studs or track in your proposal.

VA RESPONSE: Please see attachments labeled “Grout Selection and “Tile Selection” included with this amendment.
13. QUESTION: I know the statement of work says that the contractor is responsible for removing and re-installing any items on the wall. We were told that the signs would need to come down and be re-installed after the painting was complete. Can we just leave the signs in place and paint around them, since the signs and room numbers aren’t changing? The additional labor to take down, patch walls and re-install the signs would be a significant cost.
VA RESPONSE: Room signage and any alike signage can be cut around. All other decorative paintings, dry erases boards, etc. shall be removed and re-installed.
14. QUESTION: I received this question from a manufacturer’s rep for the epoxy flooring. “Please not that the thickness of the resinous cove base is 1/8” to 3/16”, applying tile over the cove base could leave a void. I’d recommend applying a waterproof membrane (30 mil thickness) on the floor as well as on the cove base. This will allow fo the tile to abut the cove base and provide a waterproofing membrane behind both systems”. Please advise.
VA RESPONSE: Please construct based upon the scope of work.
15. QUESTION: Solicitation, Offer and Award Document indicated the bid proposal is due on 3/30/2022 at 3:00 p.m. Page 10 of 75 of the Solicitation states that a public bid opening will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday March 25, 2022, at the Rosebud Office. Just want to clarify what the correct bid date is.
VA RESPONSE: The date for bid submission and public opening has been extended to Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
16. QUESTION: Where will the contractor be able to store the wall decorations and coverings currently hanging in the corridor?

VA RESPONSE: Yes, the contractor will be responsible for removing and re-installing the LED Lights.
18. QUESTION: During the pre-bid meeting this section was unoccupied, when does the VA anticipate this area becoming occupied?
VA RESPONSE: Contractors should plan to work in occupied space.
