About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the Simulab Pacerman high-fidelity medical simulation system, dated October 2026, for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS).
The requirement specifies procurement of one Pacerman System, a closed-system medical simulator designed for training healthcare staff and trainees on right heart catheterization and temporary transvenous pacemaker placement procedures. The system measures 30.5" x 16" x 11" and weighs 26 lbs, featuring preloaded software that requires no internet connectivity, Bluetooth compatibility, touchscreen capability, and battery or wall power supply options. The Pacerman includes a simulated patient monitor for real-time feedback and ultrasound-compatible soft tissues for venous identification and full catheter insertion. The justification emphasizes that these high-acuity, low-occurrence clinical procedures require ongoing training to maintain competency, and the simulator supports skill development in electrical capture, medical decision-making, and ultrasound-guided technique to improve patient outcomes for VAPHS's large cardiac patient population. Delivery must be made to the VAPHS University Drive location loading dock in Pittsburgh, PA 15240, with logistics staff receiving items and PPM applying equipment tracking tags. Normal business hours for delivery acceptance are 0730–1500 Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.

Statement of Work
Simulab Pacerman
October 2026
Background: The PacerMan System oƯers a groundbreaking opportunity to take transvenous pacing training to a whole new level. With PacerMan, learners can practice this emergent procedure in a safe, simulated setting. Train both synchronous and asynchronous transvenous pacing scenarios as well as right heart catheterization. This high-fidelity simulator includes a simulated patient monitor for real-time learner feedback, as well as ultrasound-compatible soft tissues for venous identification and full catheter insertion.
Justification: The Simulab Pacerman is a stand-alone system that provides education and training to staƯ and healthcare trainees on right heart catheterization and temporary pacemaker placement. These events are high acuity, low occurrence and require ongoing training to maintain skills. Additional skills that can be acquired and maintained include obtaining electrical capture, practice of medical decision making based upon the patient presentation, improved performance and ultrasound guided placement of the introducer. There is a high patient population at VAPHS with cardiac needs and this simulator provides training to improve patient outcomes.
