Solicita on 36C24425R0015 Pre‐Bid RFI Responses (12/31/2024)

1. Can you confirm that the ceiling material and insula on directly above Job 2 does not contain asbestos.

The VA will verify whether the ceiling material in the specified loca on contains asbestos or not.

2. Please confirm that we will be able to work Job 1 and Job 2 during the same outage and during normal business hours.

Contractor is to field verify all working condi ons/situa ons, but it appears that Jobs 1 and 2 will be able to be completed during the same outage. This can be done during normal business hours.

3. Please confirm Jobs 3, 4 and 5 can be completed during normal business hours. We plan on reques ng a single boiler at a me. We would like to complete Jobs 3, 4, and 5 in a single week.

Can the VA staff cycle boilers to support this? (i.e. on Monday morning, have boiler 1 shutdown, depressurized and cooled down. We commence and finish work including the authorized inspector/hydro then bring boiler 1 online and start to shutdown boiler 2 so that it is ready for work on Tuesday morning, etc)

Work can be completed during normal business hours. VA staff will perform shutdowns. Each boiler is going to take 2 days to cool down and depressurize as to not affect the integrity of the boilers.

4. Will the VA Boiler Plant Staff have each work area shutdown, depressurized, and cooled down based on our phasing schedule?

Boiler plant operators will perform boiler shutdowns.

5. For as‐builts, will the VA provide the CAD/Revit model of the exis ng plant for us to update, or do you simply want our changes formalized as red line annota ons to the exis ng as‐builts?

Red line annota ons for this job are acceptable.

6. Assuming all the piping modifica ons will be coming from Sec on 23 22 13

Not sure if this is a ques on or a statement. Interpre ng this as a ques on though, please follow piping modifica ons detailed in the specifica on package to the applicable loca ons. In other words, refer to 1.1 Descrip ons in each specifica on sec on to see what that sec on all entails.

7. Vent piping shall be Sch 40 galvanized? If i remember correctly it was Sch 40 CS lack.

Per specifica on sec on 23 21 11 , sec on 2.7‐ Vent Lines from Tanks and Safety and Relief Valves, note A, Carbon steel schedule 40 is acceptable.

8. NDT Tes ng for welds will be 50% xray for the first 10 welds. Is this correct? And if so will we be scheduling the xrays the nights a er we change the piping then the next day do opera onal tes ng? All this before using the new piping?

Refer to specifica on sec on 23 21 11 , sec on 3.3 note H. Furthermore, scheduling of this tes ng is up to the contractor, but must be coordinated with the VA COR. Tes ng must be completed prior to start up.

9. Under the cleaning and flushing it says all stainers and dirt legs in the system will have to be cleaned. Is this true or just anything directly in line downstream of work?

Just items directly downstream is acceptable.

10. Tes ng from 23 21 11?

This ques on is not necessarily clear. Tes ng in sec on 23 21 11 is to be followed for Boiler Plant Piping Systems where applicable.
