About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a VA pest control solicitation (Solicitation Number: 36C24425Q0811) covering facilities in Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The solicitation is a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) set-aside for pest control services, with a NAICS code of 561710 and a business size standard of $17.5 million. Key details include requiring one dedicated pest control technician with a backup, covering 5 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Pennsylvania and Ohio, with emergency service capabilities primarily for bed bug situations.
The Q&A document reveals specific service requirements, including 50-52 rodent bait stations to be furnished by the contractor, and clarifies that while regular pest control is typically handled by facility landlords, the VA wants emergency response capabilities. The solicitation requires contractors to have direct pest industry experience and maintain proper pesticide general liability insurance. Emergency service requests have historically been 90-110 annually, with minimal specific pest service requests (1 bird service, 0 requests for geese, bats, or termites). The response deadline is August 27, 2025, at 12:00 pm, and the contract will be awarded through the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration.
