Question - Is ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 acceptable? If our company is not ISO registered, is it acceptable to use a subcontractor that meets these ISO requirements?

Answer – Yes, either of these ISO certifications is acceptable. If you propose a subcontractor, then you must provide their ISO certificate.

Question – Please clarify the instrument marking requirements

Answer – The current instruments are marked. We will only need marking as we are adding instruments or if an instrument needs re-marked during repair.

The Laser mark is a preference but not mandatory. The regular chemical marking method is an option and the VA has a machine to do that. If the vendor uses the government owned machine rather than their own, the vendor will be responsible if it breaks during their use.

The price for chemical marking, and not laser marking is what should be quoted in the price. If the VA wants any instruments laser-marked that would be done by creating a separate Purchase Order outside of our contract. We want the vendor to have the ability to redo markings as needed and these can be chemical marks.

Question – Is there a list of instruments & equipment to be sharpened and/or repaired?

Answer – There is not a full comprehensive breakdown of the inventory of instruments and equipment. It does list in the Statement of Work all the specialty services that require instrument trays.
