1) Drawing 1-HA-101 states asbestos 1,000 SF debris on top side of drywall ceiling in plenum to be removed and cleaned. – please specify approx. thickness of the asbestos debris so that contractor can evaluate cost of labor and dumpsters required.
Response: The debris is less than ¼”.
2) Does contractor have to hire third party person/firm for air monitoring, inspection and testing of asbestos abatement work or is it VA’s responsibility.
Response: It is the VA’s responsibility.
3) Section 01 35 26 para 1.9 states SSHO shall conduct daily safety inspections. – Please advise if contractor’s site superintendent has the credentials, then he can perform the duties of SSHO simultaneously.
Response: The contractor’s site superintendent can perform the duties of SSHO simultaneously.
4) Based on our experience working in this facility most of the work must be performed in the second shift as noisy work is not allowed and because of logistics reasons. Please advise if contractor shall consider most of this project work in second shift as then there is considerable increase in contractor’s overhead cost.
Response: All work shall be performed during normal hours.
Asbestos abatement on 18 West and plumbing work above 17th floor ceiling shall be performed during off hours and weekends as needed.
5) Drawing 1-GI-002 has details for the temporary construction partition, but legend does not have this New temporary construction partition, keynote no.1 states this work still it is not clear on the ICRA plan the limits of this temporary construction partition. Please provide on legend and plan the outline/limits of the new temporary construction partition.
Response: Please see keyed notes #3 & 4.
6) As there are ACM debris above the existing 1,000 SF ceiling system, does contractor have to remove this 1,000 SF ceiling area or the entire existing ceiling system as ACM? Please clarify as this will have impact on our price.
Response: The contractor does not have to remove the ceiling system as ACM.
7) Please confirm if all the existing interior partition walls which are to be demoed are masonry? Drawing 1-ASD-101 floor plan indicates only some walls as CMU. For instance, cooler room and adjacent room does not indicate existing wall type.
Response: No, not all interior partitions being demolished are masonry. The construction types are typically listed. The cooler room and adjacent room are of masonry construction.
8) Drawing 1-AS-001 has room finish schedule which indicates finishes for walls and ceilings, but there is no information about what type of finish flooring is required in every room. Please provide new finish flooring details for each room.

Response: Third party inspector has to visit every one or two months as request by the COR.
Unused site visits shall be credit back to the VA.
10) Scope of the work states “Provide an independent testing laboratory to perform water sampling and testing and written reports in accordance to VA plumbing specifications and Water System Infection Control Risk Assessment (WSICRA) requirements. The independent testing laboratory must be certified by the New York State Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP)”. – Please confirm the independent testing lab has to perform the water sampling only one time.
Response: Yes, only one time.
11) Scope of the work states an extended exhaust discharge duct section at least 25 feet from the new AC-13 outside air intake in the Penthouse (See drawing 1-MH-202A). --- There is no drawing 1-MH-202A in the drawings set.

Response: Self leveling underlayment is required wherever concrete flooring is demo’d.

Response: New acoustical lay in ceiling system shall be “Certainteed” “Vinylshield A”.

Please clarify in detail.
Response: The contractor has the choice of filling all new wall courses solid or filling the courses with sound resistant insulation.

· Breakroom 18010W shows LCT on the finish schedule and ACT on the reflected ceiling plan
· Corridor 18003W is listed twice on the finish schedule, one with LCT and one with ACT. The reflected ceiling plan shows all ACT. Please clarify of there should be divided areas of 18003W with LCT and ACT or if all ceilings should be ACT.
Response: Breakroom 18010W and Corridor 18003W shall have ACT ceiling systems. The room finish schedule inaccurately indicates LCT for the breakroom and ½ of the corridor.
