1) According to the drawing 1-AS-100/1, scope of work are only countertops in rooms 510a & 508a.

Drawing 1-AS-600 Finish Schedule shows that there are Plastic Laminate cabinets and casework.

Please confirm the scope of the work for finish carpentry.

Response: The new counters are shown on 1-AS-100. The finish schedule provides plastic laminate selection finish selections for any additional items added to the project or if the contractor intends to provide new casework where it is noted for the existing casework to be removed and reinstalled after lead shielding installation is complete instead of modifying the existing casework.

2) In the spec book table of content is missing. Please provide the same.

See attached.

3) Please advise if electronic submission of bid is acceptable (by email) or bid has to be mailed.

Response: In person or mailed bid. Recommended in person to avoid delays in the mail room.

4) As there are patients on the second floor and 1st floor too, our experience is that most of the work must be done on weekends and afterhours. Please confirm as it will have big impact on our labor cost/productivity, especially demolition, concrete and steel work.

Response: Directly below on the 1st floor is HR, who have been working from home. Other than major disruptions most work can be done during normal hours.

5) There is an extensive spec section 10 45 00 for Quality Control work, para 3.4 states for the personnel requirements. Please clarify if our site supervisor can concurrently perform the duties of all these listed CQC personnel or contractor must hire a separate full time individual to perform these duties? Please clarify in detail as this will have impact on our bid offer.

Response: A qualified competent supervisor could perform this work.

6) Spec sec 10 45 29 is for testing laboratory services, also drawing 1-S-200 has extensive requirements for special inspections. Please confirm that all the testing and inspection required for the project is contractor’s responsibility and contractor must hire an 3rd party firm to perform this work.

Response: There is no spec section 10 45 29. Contractor shall hire a third party firm for all structural inspections.

7) Spec section 01 91 00 para 1.10A states that contractor shall assign a commissioning agent. Usually a third-party commissioning agent is hired by VA and not the contractor. Please advise if its VA or contractors’ responsibility to hire a third-party commissioning agent.

Response: Contractor’s responsibility for this project to hire 3rd party commission agent.

8) Drawing 1-PH-100 note states “contractor to provide and be responsible for two crane mobilizations.” We have following questions:

a) Is it contractor’s responsibility to provide crane and labor to remove the existing CT equipment?

If yes, then please provide the approx. weight of existing CT equipment so that contractor can determine the size of the crane.

Response: Contractor is responsible for removal of the gantries. Existing gantries are lighter than those shown on Dwg. C1-A2.

b) Is it contractor’s responsibility to provide the crane, rig and install the new CT equipment? Usually the rigging and installation is done by the CT equipment manufacturer. Please clarify. Also, if it is contractor’s responsibility to provide the crane, rigging and installation of the new CT equipment then please inform the weight of new CT equipment to determine the crane size.

Response: Contractor is responsible for craning, and rigging in the new gantries. Final rigging and final connections by G.E. See Dwg. C1-A2 for gantry weights.

c) Based on the drawings 1-ASD-100 and 1-AS-100 looks like there are ( 2 ) existing CT equipment’s and two ( 2 ) new CT equipment’s. Please confirm.

Response: Correct.

9) Drawings indicates lead shielding in floors, ceilings, doors and windows. But it does not state if the existing east and west walls of rooms 508 and 510 receive any lead shielding. Please advise.

Response: The existing east and west walls already have lead shielding.

10) Please confirm that the new patient lift systems are to be provided and installed by the contractor.

Response: Yes, the Patient lift systems are to be provided and installed under the responsibility of the contractor. See attached Drawing to replace the drawing originally provided in specification section 11 73 00, Contractor will be responsible for providing signed and sealed drawings and calculations for the Patient Lift system during submittal phase.

11) Please refer to dwg 1-AS-102, in the equipment schedule there is a column for ACQ/INS which says VV, CC, CF, please provide the full forms for these abbreviations. Kindly clarify if CF stands for ‘contractor furnished’ as there are many major equipment’s in the schedule which says CF, usually all these equipment’s which are listed as CF are furnished and installed by the CT equipment manufacturer. But if in case VA wants contractor to furnish and install all this equipment which says CF then please provide a detailed specification for each of this equipment and also specify basis of design or the manufacturer name.

Response: The abbreviations are as follows: VV is VA provided and VA installed; CC is Contractor provided and Contractor installed; CF is Contractor to coordinate as required with specialty VA Contractor, VA Specialty contractor to provide equipment, Contractor to coordinate and assist in installation as noted on the Construction Documents.

FE PROJECT NO. 20-176

12) Please confirm VA will hire their own physicist for the inspection and survey of all the lead shielding work.
