Statement of Work
Elevated Technologies, Inc. (ETI) proposes to upgrade the below noted elevators at the Providence VA Medical Center in Providence, RI.
Furnish and install new non-proprietary, universally serviceable, microprocessor based solid state selective collective control system, and group dispatcher (Controller). This system provides smooth acceleration and deceleration of the car. Most of all, the new controller delivers level floor stops, which will reduce the tripping hazard. The new controller also provides zero-speed brake stops, which will greatly reduce the wear on the elevator machine and brake. The new controller is quickly installed and adjusted, easily maintained and 100% factory tested. The new system will contain all Fire Recall Features and Door Lock Monitoring as required by code.
Remove existing DC gearless machine. Furnish and install new Gearless Machine with Permanent Magnet AC motor. Provide support steel, as necessary.
Furnish and install a leveling system. This system will eliminate leveling issues and the elevator inadvertently skipping floors. This control box is attached directly to the top of the elevator.
Furnish and install a new car station. Car station will include a series of push buttons numbered to correspond to the landings served. The stations will have an emergency stop switch, alarm button, fan and light switch, independent switch, emergency light, emergency phone and Braille markings. Car stations will also have an L.E.D. digital position indicator.

Furnish and install new hall stations at all landings. Hall stations will have an up and down button at intermediate landings and a single button at the terminal landings. The Lobby landing will have a key switch for code-required fire service operation. Hall stations will be installed at ADA compliant height.
Simplex (One-car) and Duplex (two-car) groups will have a shared hall push button station at each landing. Groups of 3 to 4 will have two hall stations at each landing. Alternatively, if the current hall fixture set-up includes additional hall stations ETI will provide hall stations to match the current layout.
Furnish and install hall lanterns with digital displays above each entrance at each floor.
Refurbish existing cab interior. Design will be agreed upon by Owner and Contractor. Cab will include new recessed lighting, new wall panels covered in laminate, new dropped ceiling, new vinyl flooring, new covering on return wall and transom. ETI will also include one set of custom-made protective padding per elevator.
Furnish and install overspeed governor including a new governor cable and tension weight.
Furnish and install new hoist cables on all cars.
Furnish and install a new elevator traveling cable. Traveling cables are multi-conductor cables containing the necessary wires to connect all devices on the elevator to the control system lighting and power circuits. These are heavy duty flexible conductors with a water-resistant covering. Cables will include a shielded pair for communication and a coaxial cable for future camera wiring. The cables will be hung by means of special spool type hangers and the terminal connections will be relieved from all strain. The hangers and the terminal boxes will be securely fastened to the car rail or to the building structure and to the elevator car frame.
Furnish and install new shaft wiring. Existing wiring will be removed and replaced with all new wiring for the proper operation of the equipment and shall meet all code requirements. All conductors are to be run in conduit or metal wire-way as required and shall be installed in an orderly manner. Flexible metal conduit may be used for short runs between equipment and risers. The existing conduits may be retained pending the condition. All wiring shall test free from short circuits or grounds and the resistance to ground.
Furnish and install new shaft door tracks, door hangers, door release assemblies, door locks, spring closers and Z-brackets on all shaft doors. Each hatchway door will be equipped with an Underwriter’s approved electromechanical interlock so wired and connected as to prevent the operation of the elevator away from the landing unless all the doors are positively locked in the closed position. The interlocks will also prevent the opening of any door until the car has reached a landing. Interlocks will meet the requirements of the Municipal and State departments having jurisdiction.
Furnish and install new non-proprietary, universally serviceable heavy duty door operator, header, track and hangers.
Furnish and install new door restrictors zone lock as per code.
Furnish and install new hoistway terminal slowdown and limit switches.
Existing rails shall be reused. Includes minor adjustments as possible with existing brackets and building structure.
Furnish and install new rope gripper, per code. This safety device is used to grip elevator suspension ropes to stop an elevator in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure. This device prevents injuries if the elevator over speeds in the up direction or if the elevator leaves the floor with the door opened.
When required, we will furnish and install a new pit light, and GFCI Outlet in pit.
Furnish and install new car and counterweight guide rollers.
Re-use existing car and counterweight buffer springs in pit. We will replace or repair if necessary.
