Bedford - 518-18-060 Female Bathroom

1. Is the Bedford Seed Project intended to be Design-Build?

0. No. Project has already been designed. See Final Drawings.

1. The Statement of Work for the Bedford Seed Project, Item C.3. HVAC Commissioning indicates that the contractor shall include cost for the zone where the new Female Shower is being installed. This section also indicates that “the system’s complete commissioning shall be included” AFTER the VA’s CxA completes a “thorough holistic exploration of the building’s system” and identifies its deficiencies. How are we to include cost for the complete commissioning without any information about the existing system from the VA and its CxA?

1. Commissioning is no longer required. HVAC commissioning can be descoped from the SOW.

1. The Statement of Work for the Bedford Seed Project, C.5. Demolition, Item iii. states that “the structure above will be assessed…” At the site visit we were told that the VA has conducted a structural assessment for support of the patient lift. Please confirm.

2. See page 7 of ‘Final Set with Stamped Structural’ for structural assessment of patient lift and proposed installation method.

1. The Statement of Work for the Bedford Seed Project, C.5. Demolition, Item iv. Indicates partial removal of the existing slab will be required. Is the intent to alter the existing slab (grind & core at drain locations then pitch mortar to drain) or to remove the slab and form and pour a new slab pitched to drain?

3. Contractor is to alter existing slab. Refer to structural drawings S0-2.0 – the First Floor Plan and Detail 1 indicate the cutting required to install the linear floor drain. The drawing indicates that the core drain will be located so it is drilled between beams. Contractor will have to coordinate with representative from Simpson Gumpertz & Heger to ensure the structure is not compromised. Leveling material will have to be used to create pitch for drain.
