1. SCOPE OF WORK:
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Non-Expendable Equipment National Program has identified Exercise - Treadmill product line as a candidate for a VA-wide (otherwise referred to as “national”) single Requirements contract award. Exercisers: Aerobic: Treadmills are designed to allow the user to exercise by walking and/or running on a moving belt. These devices typically consist of a continuous tread made of polymeric material and electric motors to move the belts, but the belts, may be moved by the user while walking or jogging (passive treadmills); a monitor that displays workout feedback such as speed, time, calories burned, and heart rate; and controls for the belt speed and slope. Treadmill exercisers are used to increase cardiovascular endurance by keeping the heart and pulmonary rate elevated for a continuous period of time. Additionally, they provide strength and endurance to muscles used while walking or running (i.e., quadriceps, hamstrings, calf, gluteus). This requirement is limited to Exercisers: Aerobic: Treadmills that are used in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
The Contractor must demonstrate the ability to meet all requirements for the solicitation. The objective is to provide treadmills to be used by patients throughout the VA medical centers and facilities. The period of performance is for one (1) 12 month base period with two (2) twelve (12) month option periods.
