About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) attachment detailing standardized telecommunications and IT infrastructure components required for installation in VA data center and telecommunications spaces. All items must conform to the Infrastructure Standard for Telecommunications Spaces (ISTS) and PG-18-12 Telecommunications Design Guide.

The document specifies requirements across five major infrastructure categories. Telecommunications and IT Infrastructure includes equipment racks, cabinets, and enclosures (standard 19-inch EIA-310-E compliant with minimum 42U height for data centers, 2,500 lbs static load capacity, and seismic anchoring); ladder racks, cable trays, and overhead support (aluminum or steel per site environment); copper structured cabling systems (minimum Category 6A per ISTS, TIA-568 compliant, tested and certified end-to-end); fiber optic structured cabling systems (single-mode and/or multimode with LC duplex or MPO/MTP connectors); and patch panels with fiber enclosures (compatible with installed cabling plant). Power and Electrical Infrastructure encompasses rack-level power distribution units (metered, switched, or monitored with SNMP monitoring preferred at 120V/208V), room-level power distribution (floor-mount or overhead PDU/RPP sized to site electrical design), busway systems, and grounding/bonding infrastructure (TIA-607-D compliant). Environmental and Cooling Infrastructure requires cooling systems (in-row, overhead, or perimeter CRAC/CRAH units sized to heat load), hot aisle/cold aisle containment, environmental monitoring sensors (temperature, humidity, airflow, water/leak detection), and compatibility with VA environmental monitoring platforms. Facilities and Life Safety Infrastructure specifies fire detection and suppression systems (VESDA or equivalent detection with clean agent suppression per NFPA 75 and NFPA 76), conduit and firestopping (UL-listed firestop systems for all penetrations), and physical security infrastructure (access control, CCTV, or physical barriers). All bundled services include design, installation, testing, certification, commissioning, and comprehensive documentation requirements.
