Salient Characteristics

Kent Scientific SomnoSuite Low Flow Anesthesia System (Brand Name)

General The Kent Scientific SomnoSuite is a low-flow anesthesia system designed specifically for mice and rats. It is engineered with a precision syringe pump and integrated digital vaporizer which uses either room air or compressed gas to deliver anesthesia drugs at low flow rates that is proportionate to the animal’s size. This equipment’s emphasis is on administering just the right amount of anesthesia because 1) it reduces the risk of exposure to lab personnel from wasted (escaped) anesthesia gases and 2) it benefits the animals from over exposure to the anesthesia during the procedures.

Similar to human anesthesia systems, animal anesthesia also requires all types of vital signs monitoring once the drugs are administered. This system offers a variety of software modules for the different types of vital signs monitoring as described below.

Warranty Requirements Manufacturer must offer a (1) one-year minimum warranty that product is free from defects in materials and workmanship. All defects will be replaced or repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the buyer.

Features

a. Integrated Digital Vaporizer automatically calculates flow rate based on the animal’s weight.

b. Uses less than 1 mL/hour of anesthetic with flow rates from 25mL to 1L

c. Built-in air compressor

d. Precise digital dial for fine control of gas delivery

e. Oxygen flush function minimizes waste anesthetic gas exposure

f. Compatible with isoflurane and sevoflurane – no need for retrofitting

g. Built-in display for real-time observation of anesthetic parameters, such as flow rate and percent anesthetic concentration.

h. Internal memory for data storage

i. Mini-USB for data output

j. Designed with anti-spill, anti-vapor bottle top adapter

k. Includes (2) accessory adapters to connect (2) mice to anesthesia masks simultaneously.

l. Includes scavenging filter

m. Includes 1 charcoal canister

n. Modular system with optional temperature monitoring and homeothermic warming, vital signs monitoring, automatic ventilation, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring
