About this file
The document is a program informational brochure for the Massachusetts Growth & Nutrition Program, detailing a statewide health initiative supporting infants and children up to 6 years old who experience growth challenges. The program offers comprehensive medical, nutritional, and social support services across multiple locations in Massachusetts, including Boston, Brockton, Lawrence, Lowell, North Adams, North Dartmouth, Pittsfield, Springfield, Waltham, and Worcester. At each location, a multidisciplinary team of pediatricians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and social workers provides specialized assistance to children with developmental delays, food allergies, reflux, or other medical conditions affecting growth.
The program provides individualized support through initial assessments, personalized feeding plans, and follow-up appointments that can occur in various settings such as the program facilities, telehealth platforms, homes, schools, or daycare centers. During the first visit, families receive comprehensive evaluations of the child's growth and nutrition, with potential referrals to additional services like speech therapy, occupational therapy, and nutrition assistance programs such as WIC and SNAP. The brochure emphasizes a holistic approach to child health, focusing on meeting each child's unique nutritional and developmental needs while providing support and resources to families throughout the process.

Helping Your Child Thrive Form #324 www.mass.gov/GrowthAndNutrition
Some children have problems growing. This can happen for many reasons like a developmental delay, food allergy, reflux, or other medical conditions. In this case, your child may be referred to a Growth and Nutrition Program for help and support.
Growth and Nutrition Programs are located throughout Massachusetts. They provide medical, nutritional, and social support to infants and children through 6 years of age. Their caring team of pediatricians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, social workers, and other professionals will work with you to help care for your child.
What to expect At your first visit to the Growth and Nutrition Program, you and your child will meet with the program’s team. They will check your child’s growth and learn about the foods your child eats.
During this appointment, you may receive referrals for other services like speech therapy to work on oral-motor skills or occupational therapy to work on sensory development. You may also receive referrals to programs such as WIC and SNAP to access healthy foods and nutrition education.
You and the team will come up with a feeding plan to help meet the unique needs of your child.
If your child struggles to grow, learn how the Massachusetts Growth and Nutrition Program can help!
After your first visit, the team will schedule an appointment to follow up on the feeding plan and see how your child is growing. Visits may take place at the program, through telehealth, or where your child spends time, like at home, school or daycare.
