Hardware/Software Import Template Instructions
1. Enter valid information into the fields on the Hardware/Software Import Template.
2. Do not delete columns/sheets or add additional columns. Doing so may have a negative impact on the ability for eMASS to ingest the template 3. The following fields/columns contain drop-down menus that allow for selection of existing values in the eMASS instance: "Component Type", "Software Type", "Approval Status". If no existing value is appropriate, manually enter a new value
4. If importing hardware information, the "Machine Name" is a required field.
5. If either "Manufacturer" or "Model Number" is specified for a hardware asset then both fields become required6. Selecting 'Yes' for "Virtual Asset" on a hardware entry will set the Manufacturer/Model Number/Serial Number fields as 'Virtual' Those fields can be manually adjusted thereafter if necessary7. If importing software information, the "Software Vendor", "Software Name", and "Version" are required fields.8. When importing software information, only integers of 0 and above are accepted for "Total Licenses" and "Licenses Used"
9. The "Virtual Asset" and "Critical Information Asset" fields have a drop-down with expected input values.
10. To the greatest extent possible, ensure all spelling and name usage is correct. When entering product names, please use the formal/official version rather than an abbreviation (e.g., "Windows 10 Home (64-Bit)"
11. For additional information on defining critical information system assets, refer to CP-2(8), "Identify Critical
12. Most hardware/software fields have a character limit of 100 with the exception of "Location" (hardware)
