About this file
This document is a notification regarding REAL ID compliance requirements for access to military installations, effective May 7, 2025. The U.S. Army now requires REAL ID-compliant identification for all individuals accessing military installations and facilities, as well as for boarding domestic commercial flights. All Department of Defense-issued identification cards meet REAL ID compliance standards, as do most state-issued driver's licenses; compliant cards are marked with a star on the upper portion.
Individuals without REAL ID-compliant identification must present two forms of identification from an approved list, which includes a state-issued driver's license or state-issued ID paired with one of the following: U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, Department of Defense ID (including dependent IDs), acceptable photo ID from a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe or Enhanced Tribal Card, HSPD-12 PIV card, Transportation Worker Identification Credential, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766), U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential, or Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC). A complete list of TSA-acceptable identifications is available at tsa.gov/id. Individuals arriving without either a REAL ID-compliant identification or two approved forms of identification must be escorted to enter the installation. Questions should be directed to the Letterkenny Visitor Center at (717) 267-8003 or 8055.

REAL ID COMPLIANCE MAY 7, 2025
The U.S. Army, like other federal agencies, now requires REAL ID-compliant identification for access to military installations and facilities, including for boarding domestic commercial flights.
All Department of Defense-issued identification cards are Real ID Compliant. Most state issued drivers licenses are Real ID Compliant as well. Real ID-compliant cards will have a star marking on the upper top portion of the card. If the card does not have one of these markings, it is not REAL ID-compliant and won’t be accepted as proof of identity to access the base.
For individuals that do not have a real ID compliant identification, they will be required to present two forms of identification off of the list of approved ID and documents listed below:
• State-Issued Driver’s License or State-Issued ID AND one of the following:
• U.S. passport
• U.S. passport card
• U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents
• An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian
Tribe, including Enhanced Tribal Cards (ETCs).
• HSPD-12 PIV card
• Transportation worker identification credential
• U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-
766)
• U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential
• Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
For a complete list of TSA acceptable identifications, go to tsa.gov/id
If you arrive at the installation with neither (1) a Real ID compliant identification, nor (2) Two forms of ID and documentation from the approved list, you must be escorted to enter the installation.
Further questions should be directed the Letterkenny Visitor Center at (717) 267-8003 or 8055.
