About this file

This Feature Work List document is a technical specification sheet for mine closure work at the Maggie Gulch Project in Colorado, managed by the PKAA (Public Lands Partnership or similar authority). The project encompasses the closure and remediation of eleven mine features including adits, shafts, and stopes across the Maggie Gulch site using various methods such as bat grates, corrugated steel pipes, polyurethane foam, and backfill. The work involves detailed specifications for each feature, including excavation dimensions, depth measurements, drainage characteristics, closure methods, UTM coordinates, and access routes. Features range from adit Feature 02 requiring a 15-foot corrugated steel pipe with bat grate installation to Feature 08, a shaft requiring backfill using on-site materials. Access methods vary considerably across sites, with most features requiring walking access only over distances ranging from one-fifth mile to three-quarter mile, with several recommending helicopter access due to terrain difficulty, elevation changes of 200 to 550 vertical feet, and challenging topography such as talus scrambles.

The work specifications are supported by Standard Drawings SWS 2, 9, 10, and 13, with detailed engineering drawings referenced in sheets 1 and 2. Several features are designated as BLM (Bureau of Land Management) controlled sites, indicating potential federal land involvement. The project appears to prioritize cultural resource protection, specifically requiring that historic artifacts be left in place and protected during work, particularly at Feature 03 where debris and artifacts will be preserved during polyurethane foam installation. Equipment access is limited across most sites, with Feature 08 being the only location allowing off-road equipment access with minor road improvements. The document provides comprehensive work descriptions and notes for bidder guidance, establishing clear requirements for site mobilization, material quantities (ranging from 5 to 40 cubic yards of polyurethane foam depending on feature), and coordination protocols with landowners and project managers prior to work commencement.

The artifacts in and around the shaft will be protected to prevent them from being covered in PUF. Common fill for the top will be installed4 days afterthe PUFhas cured. Common fill will be scavenged from the parking area to avoid disturbing the historic artifacts around the shaft. Park at the site at the end of CR23, equipment access available, but no disturbance of artifacts is allowed.
