REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS #26-043

Litter Collection & Material Transport from Wake County Convenience Centers

WAKE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DIVISION

Scope of Services

The Wake County Solid Waste Management Division is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to provide comprehensive support services for its network of Solid Waste Facilities.

The selected contractor will be responsible for performing both routine and on-call litter collection around County Convenience Centers, as well as collecting and transporting various materials between facilities.

The County seeks a contractor capable of providing all labor, equipment, materials, and supplies necessary to perform these services in a safe, timely, and environmentally responsible manner.

Background

The Wake County Solid Waste Management Division operates 16 drop-off facilities across the county. A complete list of these locations and their operating hours can be found in the Scope of Work.

As part of its waste management program, Wake County collects oyster shells at all Convenience Center sites. These shells must be transported to the designated collection area at the South Wake Solid Waste Facility. Additionally, residents leave various materials—such as paint, used oil, grease, fire extinguishers, mattresses, propane tanks, scrap tires, and other items—at the Convenience Centers. These materials must be properly collected and transported to the appropriate facilities for safe disposal or recycling.

Wake County also conducts monthly litter collection outside the Convenience Center properties to maintain the surrounding areas.
