About this file

This is the second amendment to a Request for Bids (RFB) for a hay lease at the West Kentucky Wildlife Management Area, issued by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. The amendment adds a critical provision to the Terms and Conditions section regarding the timing of hay harvesting operations. Specifically, the amendment establishes that no haying activities are permitted prior to July 16 of each year without explicit written approval from the WMA Biologist, with such approvals granted on a case-by-case basis rather than as blanket authorizations.

The amendment was necessitated because the original bid package inadvertently omitted this harvesting restriction, which is designed to protect native warm-season grass stands and support wildlife propagation objectives on the management area. This provision directly impacts bidders' operational flexibility and project planning, as it establishes a firm mid-July commencement date for hay harvesting activities to comply with nesting season protections.

AMENDMENT #2 TO RFB HAY LEASE-WEST KENTUCKY WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

1. A paragraph in the bid package was inadvertently left off that specifies certain date when to harvest hay due to nesting seasons. On page 6 and 7, under Terms and Condition, General, add number 20 and insert as follows:

An objective of this contract is to encourage stands of native warm-season grasses, as well as allow propagation of wildlife on the wildlife management area. As such, no haying will be allowed prior to July 16 each year without the specific approval of the WMA Biologist. Such approval will be on a case by case basis and not a blanket approval.
