About this file
This document is a Notice of Proposed Sole Source Purchase issued by Smith County, Mississippi, specifically for the procurement of Tasers. The notice was authorized by the Board of Supervisors on June 26, 2025, and is set to be published on July 2nd and 9th, 2025. Interested parties have until 10:00 AM Central Time on July 21, 2025, to submit comments or objections to the sole source purchase at the Smith County Chancery Clerk's office located in Raleigh, Mississippi.
The notice outlines a process for potential challenges to the sole source procurement, wherein any person or entity believing the Tasers can be provided by another source must submit a detailed written explanation. If Smith County determines after review that alternative sources exist, they will withdraw the sole source request and proceed with a competitive bid process. Conversely, if the county confirms only one source exists, they will appeal to the Public Procurement Review Board, bearing the burden of proving single-source availability. Contact information is provided, including a phone number (601-782-9811) and fax number (601-782-4690) for submissions and inquiries.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF TASERS
Comments/objections will be received as required per Section 31-7-13 (C) of the Mississippi Code until
10:00 AM (Central Time) on July 21, 2025, in the office of the Smith County Chancery Clerk, P.O. Box 39, Raleigh, Mississippi 39153; phone number 601-782-9811; Fax number 601-782-4690, for the sole source purchase of Tasers to Smith County, Mississippi.
Any person or entity that objects and proposes that the commodity listed is not sole source and can be provided by another person or entity shall submit a written notice. The notice shall contain a detailed explanation of why the commodity is not a sole source procurement. Appropriate documentation shall also be submitted if applicable.
If after a review of the submitted notice and documents, Smith County determines that the commodity in the proposed sole source request can be provided by another person or entity, then Smith County will withdraw the sole source request publication from the procurement portal website and submit the procurement of the commodity to an advertised competitive bid or selection process.
If Smith County determines after review that there is only one (1) source for the required commodity, then Smith County will appeal to the Public Procurement Review Board. Smith County will have the burden of proving that the commodity is only provided by one (1) source.
This advertisement authorized by order of the Board of Supervisors dated Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Cindy Austin, Chancery Clerk
