Pamunkey Water Well Q&A
Q: If the excavated materials are deemed unsuitable by the COR, who pays for removing the unsuitable material and who pays for the suitable material, and who pays for it being brought to the site?
A: While unsuitable materials are not anticipated, all costs would be borne by the contractor selected by this solicitation.
Q: Shouldn't all E&S measures be set and maintained by the onsite general contractor before well operations begin? Or do we need to incorporate E&S measures in and around our excavation?
A: The home already exists; there will be no other contractor than the one selected by this documentation.
Q: does the Test Pump need to be capable of 150 gpm if the well is only required to have an 8 gpm capacity?
A: Per sheet 02500-5, test pumping is not anticipated to be part of this work. Yield may be estimated by airlift or other accepted field measure.
Q: Is test pumping required for 48 hrs at 150 gpm.? If so, you will need a well to the Potomac Aquifer. Somewhere between 450' and 600' deep. We can get 8 gpm at less than (assumed) 200' deep.
A: See answer to question 3.
Q: We plan to use 1" poly pipe. Can we use a trencher for installation? It would eleviate the need for open trenches.
A: The Government would consider this alternative depending upon site conditions in order to provide best value to the government and customer
Q; Normally, we would take our pipe to within 5' of the structure, and we would supply the plumber the pressure tank to install inside the house. Are we required to hook to the plumbing in the house, or are we required to sub the work to a plumber, or would you rather allow the general contractor to use hi plumbers?
A: See section 01010, 1.02. A. The work under this contract is intended to provide complete and operable water service. The government encourage bidders to review site conditions in advance.
