About this file
Sarasota County has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking properties for a new Records Center facility for the Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller. The RFI solicits information on existing properties that can be renovated or unimproved sites that could be developed to accommodate a approximately 26,000 square foot facility. The proposed facility will house approximately 14 staff members, with room for future expansion to 18, and must be located within a 1-mile radius of 2000 Main Street in Sarasota, Florida. Respondents are asked to provide comprehensive details including property surveys, floor plans, photographs, and narratives describing their proposed solution, addressing land, design, construction, and potential lease conditions.
The facility has specific requirements including being located in a FEMA Flood Zone X, having appropriate utility services, being free of environmental hazards, and situated on a 2.5+ acre parcel (with smaller parcels potentially considered). Zoning must be compatible with City of Sarasota or Sarasota County designations. The facility must include specialized spaces such as secure document storage, evidence vaults, processing areas, administrative spaces, and various support systems including data infrastructure, building automation, security systems, and a full-building emergency generator. Respondents are also asked to indicate their intent to include office furnishings, equipment, and appliances. This RFI is the first step in a potential two-step process, with no guarantees of a formal solicitation or contract award, and all submitted materials may become part of the public record.
