Zero Action Plan Updates:

Macon-Bibb County is seeking proposals from qualified transportation planning, engineering, and multidisciplinary consulting firms to update the County’s existing Vision Zero Action Plan and develop an implementation-focused roadway safety strategy consistent with the U.S. Department of Transportation Safe

Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program and Safe System Approach.

The selected consultant will evaluate progress since adoption of the County’s 2020 Vision Zero Action Plan, update the County’s roadway safety analysis using the most current available data, update the High Injury

Network and safety emphasis areas, conduct meaningful community and stakeholder engagement, evaluate existing policies and practices, identify and prioritize evidence-based safety strategies and projects, and establish an implementation and performance-monitoring framework.

The final plan shall position Macon-Bibb County to systematically reduce fatal and serious injury crashes and compete for federal, state, and other transportation safety funding.

J. Project Background

Macon-Bibb County adopted its Vision Zero Action Plan in 2020 with the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2040.

The existing Action Plan established a Safe System framework focused on:
