PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION

The Government is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capability, and experience to meet qualification requirements for the re-manufacturing of the C-5 Main Landing Gear (MLG) Trunnion Bearings. Our acquisition strategy is for a five-year contract (a basic year plus four ordering periods) and is estimated to begin July 2027 and continue through July 2032. The Best Estimated Quantities (BEQs) range from 48ea and 56ea depending on the year of the requirement.

The Air Force has a requirement for a depot-level re-manufacturing effort for the C-5

Trunnion Bearing. This item is a large, plain self-aligning, spherical bearing. It is the main pivot bearing used during the retraction and extension of the C-5 MLG. The anticipated re-manufacturing service will provide serviceable assets to meet yearly demand for Air Force field level and C-5 Programmed Depot Maintenace (PDM).
