About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of boat workholders for the RAPID Pro Ball Bonder, a critical component in the Defense Microelectronics Activity's (DMEA) Microcircuit Assembly (MCA) process. The boats are metal fixtures required to hold and automatically transport packages of varying sizes through multiple processes including plasma cleaning, die bonding, heat curing, ball bonding, and visual inspections, thereby minimizing manual handling and improving production throughput.

The contractor must deliver 12 boats matching drawing #1 Package Dimensions, 12 boats matching drawing #2 Package Dimensions, 12 boats matching drawing #3 Package Dimensions, and 2 magazines matching drawing #1 Magazine Dimensions. Additionally, the contractor shall provide boats compatible with DMEA's existing magazines for package dimensions #2 and #3. The procurement is managed from DMEA's McClellan, California facility (4234 54th Street, McClellan, CA 95652-2100), with a project engineer, contracting officer representative (COR), and branch chief identified as points of contact. The related solicitation (HQ072726QRT03) indicates single-source procurement from Auer Precision Co Inc under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The SOW contains no software requirements, security requirements, or optional items.

STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)

DMEA 26-6F0

23 Apr 2026 Project Engineer: , DMEA/MEA, MEAA COR: , DMEA

SCOPE:

TITLE: Kulicke & Soffa (KnS) Wire Bonder Training

APPLICABILITY: This statement of work is for Boat procurement needed for wire bonding variety of packages with the RAPID Pro Ball Bonder. The Wire Bonder is the only way to create connectivity between the die and package.

BACKGROUND: The RAPID Pro Ball Bonder needs metal boats to allow different sized packages to be wire bonded. Each boat is automatically removed from a magazine to the stage of the bonder, allowing for large quantities of packages to be bonded with no handling. Furthermore, the boats minimize transferring one package at a time for multiple processes: Plasma Clean, Die Bonding, Heat Curing, Ball Bonding, and Visual Inspections.

PURPOSE: To procure a variety of boats to minimize handling and improve through-put of most processes within DMEA’s Microcircuit Assembly (MCA) process.
