About this file
This is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) authorization letter from Hill-Rom, a medical equipment manufacturer based in Batesville, Indiana, addressed to federal agencies including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Indian Health Services, Defense Logistics Agency, and Bureau of Prisons.
Hill-Rom clarifies its position as the authorized OEM for hospital beds, stretchers, and products from its owned subsidiaries, and states that it does not provide training to third-party service providers unless contractually obligated, such as with Bio-Med Departments of Federal Agencies. The company emphasizes that third-party service providers may use non-OEM parts and employ personnel lacking knowledge of current engineering changes, software releases, and authorized repair procedures. In contrast, Hill-Rom maintains control over parts quality and employee training on the most updated product versions. The company has operated for over 85 years and supports its products through its SmartCare™ Service Division, which comprises approximately 1,500 service and support personnel including certified technicians, service centers, technical support, call centers, training, compliance, and safety functions. Inquiries regarding Hill-Rom Service Programs should be directed to local sales representatives.

To whom it may concern:
Hill-Rom provides this letter as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for clarity of OEM authorization and certification to third parties attempting to provide service on Hill-Rom branded hospital beds, stretchers, and products of Hill-Rom owned subsidiaries.
Hill-Rom does not provide training to third party providers unless contractually obligated to do so, such as Bio-Med Departments of Federal Agencies. This is due to resource constraints and our commitment to provide consistent, high quality services to our customers. In particular, our continuous improvement quality program requires on-going updates, training and support to ensure we maintain our rigorous commitment to quality.
Hill-Rom furnishes OEM parts though our service programs. Other service providers may choose to use parts that do not originate from Hill-Rom and unknowingly have the products serviced by personnel that are not up to date on the latest engineering change orders, software releases, product updates or authorized service repair procedures. In contrast, Hill-Rom, as the manufacturer and supplier, will always have the correct parts and control over the training of its employees on the most updated versions of the products.
For more than 85 years, Hill-Rom has provided high quality and innovative services to create a positive difference in the lives of patients and their caregivers. We offer comprehensive products and services that are used by health care providers across the health care continuum and around the world in hospitals, extended care facilities, and home care settings to enhance the safety and quality of patient care. Our legacy of quality and our commitment to building long-term customer relationships is more than just history – it is our future as well.
Our SmartCare™ Service Division successfully supports our product through an infrastructure of ~1,500 service and support personnel including certified technicians, service centers, technical support, call centers, training, compliance, and safety.
