About this file
This document is a Single Source Justification (Simplified Acquisition) for a specialized slant polarized omnidirectional antenna. The Department of the Air Force Space Command is seeking a specific brand name antenna (QOM-ST-0.5-40-KS-R) capable of operating across a 0.5-40 GHz frequency range with unique technical specifications. The antenna requires vertical beamwidth of 45 degrees, horizontal beamwidth of 360 degrees, and must be fitted with K-type and SMA connectors, ruggedized for field deployment with radome protection.
The justification emphasizes the antenna's critical role in a broader ELINT system architecture, highlighting its custom-designed baseplate and unique configuration that supports slant polarization across the full spectrum. The contracting activity (45 CONS/PKB) has determined that this specific brand name product is the only source reasonably available, with the procurement identified under Purchase Request/Local ID Number FA252125QB182. The document notes that while the acquisition is brand-specific, competition among authorized resellers or distributors is not precluded.

Estimated Contract Cost (including Options):
Section B: Description of the Supplies/Services Required
The requirement is for a slant polarized omnidirectional antenna capable of operating across a wide frequency range (0.5–40 GHz), with vertical beamwidth ≥ 45°, horizontal beamwidth of 360°, and fitted with K-type and SMA connectors. The antenna must be ruggedized for long-term field deployment and include radome protection.
Section C: Justification for Soliciting from a Single Source or Brand Name
This acquisition is limited to a brand name product—QOM-ST-0.5-40-KS-R—to ensure compatibility with mission-specific RF systems and performance requirements.
The antenna’s unique configuration supports slant polarization across the full spectrum with flat gain characteristics, which are essential for operational effectiveness.
· The QOM-ST-0.5-40-KS-R model includes a custom-designed baseplate and radome for standalone deployment.
· It meets all technical specifications outlined in the requirement, including connector types, beamwidths, and ruggedization.
· The antenna is part of a broader ELINT system architecture, and its integration supports continuity with existing equipment and test protocols.
This justification does not preclude competition among authorized resellers or distributors of the specified brand name product.
