About this file
This document is a summary report of a hazardous materials assessment conducted at Building 254 at the New Hampshire Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The assessment was requested by the Civil Engineering unit of the U.S. Air Force to collect wipe samples from office and maintenance areas prior to planned renovations. The analysis focused on testing for the presence of RCRA 7 metals, including arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, selenium, and silver. Samples were collected using Ghost Wipes and the results were provided in micrograms per square foot. The report includes a map of the sampling locations and the laboratory analytical results. Any findings above the laboratory reporting limits are highlighted in the report.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the New Hampshire National Guard for mold remediation and demolition services at Building 254. The scope of work includes the removal and demolition of drywall, ceiling tiles, carpet, and cove base, as well as an option to remove and abate mold in the HVAC ductwork. II. Scope of Work The HAZMAT assessment was conducted on July 17, 2019 at the request of NH ANG. The site of the assessment was Building 254 at the New Hampshire Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The object of the assessment was to collect wipe samples from selected office spaces and maintenance areas not previously sampled for RCRA 7 metals, prior to renovations.
The building assessment was conducted to establish the following:
● Collect environmental surface wipes for RCRA 7 metals analysis
● Throughout the process, consult other qualified professionals if necessary or desired
III. RCRA Metals The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, RCRA, identifies a list of toxic heavy metals. The following metals within that list were analyzed from wipe samples collected from interior horizontal surfaces from selected office spaces and maintenance areas not previously sampled in Building 254:
Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium, Lead, Selenium, and Silver.
Samples were collected using Ghost Wipes. Each area wiped was measured to provide results in microgram per square foot (µg/ft²). Per client request, each area sampled was marked with sample ID number using a black permanent marker on blue painters tape. A map of sampling locations and the laboratory analytical report are included as Attachments. Below are the findings: Results above the laboratory reporting limit a highlighted in Red.
