About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file related to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Workers Compensation Insurance Administration Services issued by the State of Michigan. The RFP is seeking a contractor to provide workers compensation claims management services for the State, which includes managing the processing of open claims that will be transitioned from the incumbent contractor, Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc. The RFP covers workers compensation indemnity claims, medical only claims, and record only incidents. The RFP requires the new contractor to utilize the State's existing Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and provide claim data extracts on a regular cadence. The State is seeking timely and accurate claims processing at a reasonable cost, with a focus on continuity of claim handling and customer service.
The current contract structure is not based on minor lines of coverage, and the State does not have a self-insured retention (SIR) or deductible program. The new contractor will be required to meet specific service level agreements outlined in the RFP. Pricing is requested on a maintenance fee basis based on the length of time a claim is open. The State has not provided a list of participating bidders, as this is a competitive solicitation process.
